Re: July CTC - 5k/2k 7min rest, 1 at 20SPM
Ouch that hurt. My last erg was last months CTC. I have been having minor injury issues and motivation issues. Set myself a target of 2:00 splits throughout. Found the 2k r20 pretty hard as I very rarely do rate limited erging. The 5k was torture as I haven't done enough to have any staying power. 2...

Re: May ctc - 200 seconds, standing start
Ist row in nearly a month. Picked up an injury v.early May and then a combination of hayfever/asthma which needed steroids to get under control. 928 nearly killed me and nearly triggered the asthma again. ;-( I looked at the pace before starting and thought to target 1:37 then read the bit about pac...

OK Second ever rate limited try. Haven't rowed at all since my previous attempt as I picked up a bit of an injury and got busy at work (physical job) so was giving it a rest. Had fish & chips for dinner so had to leave it 'till late to let it settle. Didn't want to try too hard and antagonise th...

My first ever rate limited row. I've only ever limited myself by HR before. Re: March CTC - 6k
Great PB Jon. Nice work. I've started using something a good coach said to help on the ones where you have time to think. Go off at your chosen pace. When you get to 40% distance, if you are unsure if you will be able to finish, you've got it about right. Obviously if you know that either you won't ...

New 6k PB by 25s
23:22.4
Struggled mentally in the middle section but a nice sprint right at the end.
Think there might be a bit more to come on this one

Done.
Had too big a breakfast and the garage was too cold but managed 5:05.9.
Felt I should have been able to go a bit quicker, but hey.

Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club
On 31st Jan I hit my first million since (my) records began.
Was doing meters for VTC and made sure that I set up a distance to stop at 1,000,0000.
I then did some more on Just Row to get my VTC meters done.
Didn't know to do a screen shot.
I hereby claim my gold star.

Thinking that my 5k SB was done under better conditions and a bit better fitness, I went for 1:55 (5k + a bit). 22:55.3 6,000m 1:54.6 232 1100 28 170 7:39.8 2,000m 1:54.9 230 1093 28 165 7:39.7 2,000m 1:54.9 231 1093 28 169 7:35.8 2,000m 1:53.9 237 1114 28 177 Pretty happy with that, might be able t...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Great row Iain.
Nice consistency.
Impressed with the confidence to push from 675 out.
I'm always afraid I'm going to blow up if I go from that far out.
A best time in a long while is always something to smile about.

The Henley one was tough, that extra bit beyond the 2k is mentally difficult.Kevinhorne44 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 8:11 pm

Just kept telling myself that if I did OK I could treat myself to an extra drink in Bridge Bar next year

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Just managed to take 1.4s off of my season/decade best.(More than 10yrs since I did erging, until Covid hit)
Down to 7:17.0 from 7:18.4 (which was actually an extrapolation from my 'Henley' ctc time) set in July.
Happy to be managing to take time off rather than just getting slower.

I'm doing one of the 'easier' options, The Burn , not the Big one.
Still will be doing 140k+ this month, so it's keeping me busy.

Only 5k to go for my pin on the holiday challenge.
Had another go as part of my yardage.
Went off on target and was hanging on from 500m. Nearly stopped at 200m but managed to tough it out.
