Re: Nonathlon 2023/2024
I accidentally changed mine from alien878 to Alien878, so that’s probably why I’m still not appearing on the list. I tried to change it back, but couldn’t find a way.

Speaking of dualism, I had a coach that used to tell us “It’s all fun and games until someone gets it in the eye. Then it’s a sport”.

Ha! Top of the meter board with a projected season of 15.4M. I’m also top of my age group in the c2 rankings (out of 1).
Time to celebrate!

Re: Meta-Nonathlon 2021-22
The last hour was pure torture, but I think I did it. The only reason I didn’t HD was I posted here. My butt is not speaking to me so I won’t try this again before next May…

Re: Meta-Nonathlon 2021-22
New targets: 1. Staying lwt. This is getting harder and harder. I think I have been slowly gaining muscle mass since I started concentrating on stoke power for my SS rows. 2. A dark green on the FM. I plan to give it a try tomorrow. I think it will be dependent on achieving #1 though. 3. More Meter ...

Re: Meta-Nonathlon 2021-22
Yeah! One of my goals this season was to top the meta-nonathlon. I realized I had the unfair advantage of changing to lightweight while still getting newbie gains and decided this was my meta-nonathlon year.
I just hope I haven’t jinxed it by posting this before the end of the season

Re: December ctc - 1k @ 24spm
My lovely wife baked Christmas cookies a couple of weeks ago. Finally got back below 75kg today to give it a try.
The rate cap didn’t impact me as much as I thought and I think I could go faster. Now the big decision… Christmas cookies or another go….

Re: September ctc - 12 min., free stoke rate
A very rare second go at a CTC for me as I felt it massively disappointing that I couldn't even get to 2:00 pace for 12 mins on my last attempt (given I once did a HM at that pace). Anyhoo - managed to just squeeze over 3000m to 3004 which was 1:59.8 pace. Wasn't a nice experience at all. Darn! I h...

Hi Iain. ZoomErgos looks interesting. I assume all the times listed are UK? I’m in DE so the 1h difference means weekdays won’t work for me. I might try next weekend though.

Re: Training to lower heart rate
Hi Iain. My problem is endurance in the legs. I need to start engaging them on steady state rows to fix it. I was just pointing out that there are two ways of doing this, lowering the SPI or lowering the SPM from the faster paces where I can engage them. The goal isn’t for a weaker stroke, but to th...

Re: Training to lower heart rate
I’m relatively new to rowing and just getting back into shape, but a couple of things I’ve discovered: SS rows: Breaks really hurt a SS row. When I switched fron 2x5000/2:00r to a straight 10k with only a few seconds break to drink at 5k the difference was significant when the hr stayed in ut1 conti...
