Re: March CTC - 30 minutes

Tried to float a boat earlier today, but it has been too long since I've rowed (2 months since vacation and then covid) and 30 min was just too long first time back. Have struggled with stamina since covid end of january. Hope another lady steps up!

Re: January ctc - 6k TT

I plan to still row today to help float the last boat if we can get one more. Waited til last day to give myself time to recover from covid as much as possible. Janet

Re: January ctc - 6k TT

recovering from covid (which I got on vacay in costa rica and totally messed up my jan challenge as I had to stay 3 days longer) but I will try to do a slow but steady 6k before end of month to float the last boat if nobody else does so before I get a chance. Janet

Re: July CTC - 5k/2k 7min rest, 1 at 20SPM

Managed a last minute entry to float a boat. Haven't rowed much this month (focusing on other fitness activities), so the long distance was tough for me. Praying August is a shorter one!

Re: April ctc - 10‘r20 - 5‘r - 10‘r20, the slower one to count

I am really bad at low SPM, so I will have to try this one multiple times adjusting my drag factor. I found the easiest way to pace myself properly to get 20SPM was to follow along with one of the dark horse videos on you tube where he rows silently at 20SPM for 20 minutes. I just stopped the video ...

Re: March CTC - 6k

That was ugly, but a boat is afloat. Haven't rowed 6000 nonstop in 2 years and it was very apparent  . The good news is I didn't puke.

Re: February ctc - 3x2k, 5‘r, no restrictions

I finally worked up the courage to do this CTC. 11 weeks post rib fractures it was a challenge and the longest I have rowed in over a year, but we floated another boat. I will not be reattempting this one!

Re: December ctc - 813m, standing start

I saw you needed a couple ladies' times, so I thought I would see if I could erg without pain yet. 4 weeks out from 3 fractured ribs and I was able to do short, fast strokes with little resistance without pain! Not a fast time, but it still counts :). Hopefully in a few more weeks I can return to al...

Well, that was a short lived return to the erg...had an unfortunate fall on our boat today while fishing and broke 3 ribs. Glad I got the boat afloat when I did! See you back hopefully in a couple months.

Re: NOVEMBER 2020 - CTC

First time back to rowing in months due to back issues and then being back in Michigan for summer away from rower. It's not fast, but it floated a boat :). Janet

Re: December ctc - 7 x 1 minute / 70“r

I have attempted this twice but bailed out both times. Been struggling with back issues which I believe are due to hitting erg too hard after 5 months away from it (other than a few monthly ctcs) so the sprints kill me. I will ease off and try again at less effort just to float another boat within n...

Finally back to my erg in florida for the winter so it will be much easier to participate in challenges again. First time rowing in a couple months, so I was just happy to finish and get another boat afloat. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191129/46e56cf3301363aa2bc8cdefd03297f1.jpg Sent from my ...

When you throw down a challenge I foolishly go for it! Snuck back into boat ivy by the skin of my teeth. I will not be repeating this one...twice was enough!Image

Liefcat, it wasn't pretty, that's for sure! Tackling that CTC after not rowing much at all for a couple of months was a challenge. Pace was all over the board and HR was through the roof, but I finished it :).

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

I had to leave my rower at our florida house and I have been focusing on my Triathlon training, but I will try to get to gym by this weekend in an attempt to enter a score for this month's CTC to float another boat. Haven't rowed in a month, so it isn't going to be fast, but I will try :).

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard

Thanks for the kind words, Jill! I did the ctc early on in month but chose not to redo it later because a) I knew I couldn't catch the next faster female (at the time) and b) I have been trying to train at a lower heart rate. Even if I don't float my goal is to do every ctc at least once. This month...

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard

I must learn to look at ctc totals on last day of month for late entries so I can retry if knocked out of floating boat. Oh well...there is always another challenge :).

Re: January 19 CTC - 20/R20

Thanks, Max. As you can tell from the splits, fatigue was definitely a factor. My normal row pace is 2:30 to 2:35, so a 2:22 pace for 20 minutes was definitely a struggle, but I barely made my 4200 goal.

Re: November CTC - 11x111 r1

4.41.1...plenty of room for improvement, but I've never rowed fasted than 2.00 or 200 watts, so at least I'm improving! Perhaps we can be the first full boat this month :). I used a drag factor of 175 and struggled the last few intervals, so I'll experiment with lower drag and perhaps higher rate an...
