Re: Heart Rate Training and Bands

Hope it goes well. Out of the plans I've tried it was the most enjoyable. I felt aerobically fitter and was able to do half marathons for the first time but I didn't feel like I was over-training. The only things I noticed were a) the time commitment on some weeks was hard and b) my power seemed to ...

Re: The Original 2k Training Programme

The training forum has been quiet recently so I thought it was time for an update. Last year the Original 2k Training Programme helped to improve my power and technique so I decided to include it as part of my annual training. I'm currently following the 5 sessions a week version (attached) but real...

Re: A very good rowing machine?

Hello Sor, A lot of people use the Concept2 model D. It's a great machine and very well made. The range of resistance is good. On my machine the resistance (called drag factor) goes up to 200. Olympic male rowers row around 135, females around 120. Be careful if rowing at high resistance because it ...

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

Inspired by all of the early entries this month I thought I'd give it a blast. Aimed to keep the intervals at 1:40 or below which was pretty tough. Overall 19:53.9 @1:39.4 which is about 3s below 2k PB from last year. I went flat out for the last 300m at 1:34.0 but there are so many intervals it was...

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

This does sound painful but what pace to aim for? Suspect there is a lot of scope for HDing or at least slowing rapidly given 20 intervals. A handful of times last season I did 100m x 20 @1:27.5 so Paul's Law suggests c1:35 pace . March 2016's challenge was 300m x9 with 30s rest so IF doublin...

Re: May CTC - 3 x 1k / 5 min rest

Some great competition this month especially for Boat 2! Re Tako's question my aim was to leave it to the last weekend of the month as I come back from injury. But a couple of hangovers meant it had to wait until the very last day. Really wasn't sure what to expect so aimed for c1:44. Not full pace ...

Re: 2018/19 Summary and Aspirations for 2019/20

Overall 18/19 was a fantastic season and I'm not going to let April's disappointments spoil things. My goals were set very high and were really more like dreams: medal at an event, score 8,100+ nonathlon points and spend less time at the physio. The highlight, by a million meters, was winning bronze...

Re: Christmas Present Ideas / Heart Rate Monitor

I opted for the TICKR X because it has a memory which I occasionally use when out trekking. When rowing it is comfortable and connects easily to the PM5. I read that the battery does not last forever so keep a spare just in case. The only small issue is that a couple of times I have had to take the ...

Re: Meta-nonathlon 2018-2019

I think you could edit the score of your HM multiple times just to see at what result the score would tick over to 902? I was hoping that wasn't the answer! Because a 902 score is 1:21:45.8 @1:56.2 . To be safe, the equivalent time to equate to over 911 points on the nonathon. Yikes. What's ...

Re: Meta-nonathlon 2018-2019

99 and amber for the HM is slightly irritating!!! As I didn't do one last year I understand the benchmark was my best nonathlon score (902 for the 5k) so the bar was always going to be pretty high. In fact I did not expect to get close but now I am does anyone know exactly how fast I would have to g...
