Re: The Original 2k Training Programme

Cycle 4 may be taking longer than expected (2 weeks injured) but the timings are going according to plan . It would be great to complete the remaining sessions by the end of the month.

Well done =D> =D> =D>. Looks like your arm was ok. 3rd place in 19:57.0 so comfortably under 20 mins, although that might not be the first word that springs to mind!

Re: Rowing at (and beyond) the limit

Hi Peter, Wow that really is an amazing video. When I watched the highlights I had mixed feelings. On one hand I was impressed that the German boat held together and won. And I was also surprised by the gap between the first 2 and last 2 boats. But on the other hand I was unsettled that the boats th...

Devon Indoor Rowing Championships 2019

Dave, I can't let you get away with a passing reference to the Devon championships in the "What training have I done today" thread. So here is your very own thread... The Devon Indoor Championship's is this Saturday, 14th September (for non Brits Devon is a county in the south west of England). The ...

Thanks Fred, Wolfie and Guy. Impressive time as always Guy =D> =D> =D>. Strangely my foot was the only bit that felt fine today! Lacked energy and was a little shakey prior to warm up. If it had been a full blown attempt to catch Felton I'd have HD'd before starting (not sure that is actually possib...

Re: September ctc - 1800m / 3'r / 1200m / 3'r / 1800m

All fine this morning. I had planned to gradually increase pace by 5s per day but during the warm up decided to skip a day and go for 1:55. I hope I don't live to regret that. Evenly paced 18:24.1 @1:55.0. Suspect tomorrow's attempt at 1:50 will be a touch harder. And to avoid any doubt this recover...

Re: Metatarsalgia (Foot pain)

Thanks Claudius. Yes, the pain is under the foot strap (on the bottom of my foot) so I will play around with the height. The physio and podiatrist did not think it was a stress fracture becasuse there was no swelling or redness. A couple of years ago I had orthotic insoles made for a knee problem an...

...3 x 2000m r4 at 2.14.8 pace Hello Louise, There are lots of people with more experience than I have but this seems a good target with less meters balancing the less rest. From people who have shared their splits most are fairly balanced i.e. the 1,200m is broadly similar to the 1,800m. If you fe...

Pete Plan commenced last night. 8x500 @ 1.36.1 (best was 1.34 odd in 2017).

Metatarsalgia (Foot pain)

Has anyone suffered from metatarsalgia (foot pain near the ball of your foot)? I'd welcome any thoughts on recovery and how to avoid it in future. I woke up on Saturday with a sore foot and was hardly able to walk. It was very painful when pressure was applied next to the ball of my right foot. The ...

Any ideas re the pacing?
Peter, Wait for Wolfie to try then go a little faster

The Pete Plan 1500m x 5 5r is at 5k pace, the 2,000m x 4 is 0.5 over 5k pace. This is shorter with less rest, so maybe 2 or 3 below 5k pace (so 2 or 3 above 2k pace).

Re: AUG CTC - 'Dog Days Double Double'

It would have been wise to do a trial run. Or at least to think of this month's challenge like a short 1k, 500m, 1k, 500m rather than a slightly long 500m, sprint, 500m, sprint. Too late now! The 1st interval was awful. I went out too fast, slowed down, slowed down some more then needed to speed up ...

Cycle 3 completed, one more to go! It is hard but the improvement continues. If I can get the remaining reds over 1.0 to under 1.0, and those under 1.0 to green I will be happy.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Well spotted, it would be a new British record! I've emailed Concept2 and asked them to verify or remove it. I'm sure I've read that, in general, they don't like making changes to the rankings but as this would be a record hopefully they will. They also change / validate for race results.
