Re: March ctc - 4x4'/4'r

Well done everyone! While I was rowing today I wondered if the lockdown in many parts of the world would stop any regulars attempting the CTC. If there are it would be nice if they were not penalised in terms of the league table because missing a month makes a huge difference. Not sure how best this...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

This thread's been a little quiet lately. Jon how did the 30 minute rows go? I rowed only my second HM of the season today. The aim was to keep my heart rate about the same level as I would for a HR restricted 10k @1:59.0, so about 131-133 average. Very surprised that I didn't need to drop the pace ...

Good effort Dave. I don't know if Concept2 truncates or rounds up or down but an interesting observation from Iain.

Jon, Hope the builders can stay on site and finish the job (assuming it's safe to do so). We're limited here to 2 workers but at least it's all in the garden. The downside is that it's a terraced house so all the material has to come through the house, literally 100s of bags of sand and cement, dust...

Re: Covid-19

In Mallorca, Spain we're in the 2nd week of lockdown and already it's been extended by a further 2 weeks. Glad to say everyone is taking it seriously and if you are out the police are likely to stop you and ask why. I was even told off on Saturday for not going to the bakers nearest to my home (in m...

WOW! That is an fabulous row. Sub 37 minutes, 6th in world this season, the last 2k sub 1:50 pace, keeping up that stroke rate, the blistering finish in the 1:30s =D> =D> =D>.

And a great post from Steve .

Best wishes for a good recovery Paul. I hope you'll be spending spring and summer relaxing in the summer house so best hide the erg somewhere else. And well done to the lifeguards and medics.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020

I wish I hadn't tried Felton's rate restricted sub 38. Within the first 500m I was thinking this is going to be tough. And it was. Without the target I would have slowed down, a lot!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020

Hope your throat gets better soon. I've just had a daft erg moment! Having not rowed this month due to a groin strain I did a HR restricted 10k on Tuesday. But on reading Dave's and Felton's comments this morning I suddenly remembered that 10k is this months IRL. So I've posted a time of 39:36.6 (av...

Re: March ctc - 4x4'/4'r

Any thoughts on pacing? 1k + 2 seconds maybe? 4x4m 3mr is a routine I've done in the run up to 2k races and it's tough. My SBs for the last 2 years are 1:43.5 and 1:43.6 which is about 1 second above my best 2k times. The extra minute rest will help but I've no idea by how much. The key factor is d...

Jon, Thank you that's brilliant. I had looked up phpBB as Thomas suggested and found people asking the same question, but there was no simple answer. I've unticked the box and if no one posts a new topic in the next week or so then I'll think of one.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020

Peter, Respect for having a second attempt! A very poor effort from me but it's a result on the board. 7:03.1. That's the first time in over 2 years I haven't been able to go sub 7 :( . No power in my legs after digging up a garden path yesterday. Adjusted time of 6:32.0. Onwards and upwards next mo...

Re: February ctc - 12 x 60‘‘/60“r

Peter, Great improvement and good to see 6 boats afloat this month. This month's challenge sounded like it would be tough and it didn't disappoint. I wondered if it was possible to match Claudius's 1:37.3 but that thought did not last long! The first 2 intervals were tough and then I messed up the s...

Thanks for the nudge! Please can I have the nice rowing icon now .

Not sure if this is possible but is there any way to automatically subscribe to new topics? I get prompts when people reply to a topic I've subscribed to, but if a new topic is posted I often miss it.

Re: World Rowing Indoor Championships 2020

I had hoped to enter as I think the world championships sound a bit special. Unofficially I set myself a target time of 6:48 because in some previous years that was good enough to make the top 10 (M Hwt 50-54). But last year's training didn't go to plan and after my poor showing at the Scottish cham...
