Re: WAARC - February 2013 - 500m

As the years go by I'm getting slower!

500 m = 1:58.1
Weight = 100.8
Age = 70

Will try again next week.

Re: Ultra Distance Madness

Absolutely well done.

As you'd settled into a steady rhythm, were you not tempted to go for 48 hours, after all, you were halfway there? (Only joking!)

Fantastic! ^O^

Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club

I almost feel too embarrassed  to post in the company of you multi millionaires. However, I reached my 2 million metres mark today having started recording the distances in April 2007. That averages about 1 million every 2 years but hopefully, the next million won't take so long. It's too late...

Re: Ultra Distance Madness

Christine, My first thought when I saw this was that you are both mad as I misread it thinking you were both going to do the full 24hrs each. When I read it fully, I realised you were only going to do 12hrs each so you both appear to only be half mad, which is ok for you youngsters. So far I haven't...

Re: November´s CTC: 2x20mins r5

I'm getting too old for this especially after a knee replacement! 4771 m 24 spm 156 hr 2:05.7 / 500m 4755 m 25 spm 158 hr 2:06.1 / 500m Total 9526 m I suppose I'll have to try again sometime. P.S. I believe Bill Wright was due to have an operation at the end of September. Has anyone heard how he got...

30min - Giles, Mat, Liefcat, Hewitt, Stan, Den-j, John R
10k - Plummy, Strider, Zoot, Mark88
Half Marathon - TW-P
12k r22 - Doc RS, Boris

I'll have a go at 30 min but 10k, 12k and Half Marathon will need a lot more fitness; couldn't even get below 20 min on the 5k.

Re: Injuries.....:(

Around this time last year I asked the question, "Has anyone had any experience of TKR (Total Knee Replacement) as I'd been told by my surgeon that my right knee wouldn't last much longer?" Other than sympathy I didn't get any responses but I'm now in the position of being able to give adv...

Re: Nonathlon 2011

Stan, Would you please add me to the team. I had a TKR (Total Knee Replacement) at the end of March so my times have suffered dramatically! My best time so far is 8:29.2 for 2K. However, I can't bend my leg to 90 degrees or fully straighten it yet but I'm getting there. Next time at the gym I'll try...

Re: Injuries.....:(

After having arthroscopy on my knee in October, I'm having more problems with my knee and it looks as if I'll have to have total knee replacement in the not too distant future. I know that I probably won't be able to bend my knee as much as I do now - 120-130 degrees is what I'm hearing but at least...

Re: Millionaires club

Finally made it! When I started erging I had no thoughts about how many metres I'd do; it was only in the past couple of weeks when I saw I was getting close to the magic number that decided to try and complete this season. Looking back, I see I rowed:- 2007 - 5,000m 2008 - 373,105m 2009 - 621,895m ...

Stan,
On the "Meter Board" click on their names (not logbook) and then click on "Send Ranking E-mail" and presumably you can then ask them to join us.

Thanks for all your best wishes. It's slowly coming back but everyone says, "Listen to your body". Only problem is it's deaf and only hears again when the steam runs out and I can't do any more strokes.

Never mind, I'll get there before too long.

If you zoom in on the Google reference you'll see it's not only right in the middle of two airports but also in the middle of a roundabout!

I'd be happy to go either way, Evesham or Ware, although I'd prefer to go south to Kiwi or Oz!

Welcome Monkeynuts, 1) You aren't old! Goodness sake Andy, you're only 44. 2) Regarding the Pete Plan, as everyone has said, it's of tremendous benefit in improving technique, stamina and times. The times will definitely come down. Make sure you keep a record of your times, distances, stroke rates, ...

Re: October CTC - Pyramid Row

I've found this suprisingly hard. I'm using the first 500 and 1,000 as a warm-up for the 2k bit. After that the finish is in sight. 500 - 1.56.4 - 23 s/m 1000 - 3.49.9 - 22 2000 - 7.31.7 - 24 1000 - 3.51.0 - 25 500 - 1.50.4 - 27 Total 18.59.3 av. 1.53.9 @ 24 This was my second attempt (13th Oct) and...

Re: Sports I would drop from the Olympics...

We really are a bunch of "grumpy old men". If raising a sweat is the prerequisite then Formula 1 and Motor Cycle racing should be included at least as the drivers/riders sweat buckets during a race and they also train extremely hard. I still believe that if the Olympics encourages anyone t...

I'd keep them all in as it gets people interested in sport and if it only encourages 1% of those watching to try their hand its worthwhile. If you don't like a particular event, don't watch it. (Whilst I find horses totally boring, I know that my step-daughter works extremely hard both physically an...
