Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Thank you, thank you. I have to be honest and say I picked up a couple of fab tips on here - might be basic to some but helped me no end. So using the balls of my feet more, breaking it up in to chunks (had a teaspoon of Nutella and half a pint of water every 10km) and most importantly, bubblewrap f...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Indeed you do Ian! Love my Polar, have done for years. I tried the Garmin for a bit, but just didnt get the same accuracy or feedback with it, so went back to my old best friend (used with an H10 chest strap).

Tako - thank you and, yes it's by choice.

Yay! I managed my first 50km yesterday morning. Very very happy (and still am!). A teaspoon of Nutella and water every 10km seem to do the trick :D

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks Liefcat - I bailed at 28km, last weekend, attempting the 38km (going to blame a very snotty cold the week before), felt a bit sorry for myself, but was actually pretty happy when telling a friend that I bailed out at 17 miles hahaha! With three weeks to go, completed 40km yesterday morning in...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

32.1k (20miles in old money) early this morning watching practice 1 and 2 of the Australian Grand prix - 2:11:51. Had all the doors and windows open in the conservatory dispite the force ten wind blowing, hence the good time (it was cool!)

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

(yesterday) 30k - 2:05:18. Good time, but too quick and my legs ache a bit today. Getting more confident for the 50k on 4th May (https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/Reward - in case you're wandering what madness has overtaken me!) I also now know that 30k is probably the max I can go without takin...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Just did 27k in 1:54:08 - pretty pleased with that. Feeling a bit more confident that i'll complete the 50k in under 3:50 now :) However, aim number one is to finish it!

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Thanks V much - i knew i was going quickly, but was also in a rush because (as a Northampton Saints seaon ticket holder), we had a very early kick-off (12:15) for a cup semi-final........nothing like an incentive hahaha. I've got 27 km to do on Friday morning and am definitly going to slow down for ...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I'm feeling rather chuffed - had three PBs over the last two weekends; 10k in 40:22 (getting closer to breaking 40), 16.1k in 1:09:55 ad HM in 1:30:50. Having stopped rowing last May, I decided in December to have a bash at the 50k on 4th May (for the NSPCC - https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/Re...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I've definitely seemed to have hit a purple patch - smashed my 10k today - 43:38 (and my 30 min in the process 6767). Can I take another 39 seconds off......the way things are going........... :)

Re: Question for high meter rowers.

Bubble wrap has always been a winner for me (picked that tip up from this fab forum) - I tend to get butt ache at about 40 minutes and regulary do 10 miles and HMs. As for blisters, have to agree with eveyone else, just got to get through that stage to the callouses and then its a piece of cake! (no...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Not quite up to your speeds, but I just completed 10 miles (16.1k) in 1:13:53 and - annoyingly - i could have gone faster if i hadnt had a dawdle in the middle! Prev best was 1:17:30, so I'm feeling rather pleased with myself :)
