Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Credit to you for keeping it going around work and family Andy.

Not much erging of late due to work travel. Did 8244m/30' on Friday. 5k cross country run yesterday and 8357/30' today. Hoping tomorrow's hotel has a gym ;)

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Hi folks. Just been catching up on the 50 posts that have accumulated since my last visit in mid Dec. Well done to Erik, Jason, Andy and Paul for keeping the thread going. Heartening to read about the various battles with night shifts, viruses and errant mojos!!!! Since starting a new job with even ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Sorry to hear about your horrid virus Erik, though it sounds like you cracked it now. Next row 8k no problem :D

I am still chugging along - couple of 35:2x 10k this week. Not much planning or periodisation.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

I really like your idea of 'nibbling' John. I can't see why it would not work if you are pulling 6:40 now and still young. Others who actually attempt a 2k more than one every couple of years would be better able to respond. Good luck, I may even try it myself...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Nice going Erik - I see you getting into the groove :D

Kettlebells yesterday and a wierd row today: just sat on the erg in my ordinary clothes and rowed a 2k with no warmup at a comfortable pace. 6:53 - too much else to do, so better than nothing :-))

Training towards a 6:20 2k

Still a decent 2k Erik, and we all know what you can do if all the planets are lined up! ^O^ Admiration for doing a 2k at all in my view :D Good luck with your 31 days - not sure I follow what the idea is, but will be interested to follow progress. Rest day yesterday for me. On Saturday I did a 6k r...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Best of luck on the CTC Erik :!: Good going on the 5k and 10k Mikkel, great training. Hurt my back last weekend running, so not been able to do much. Did a 30' at 1:50 and a steady 30r20. My bluetooth headphones broke, so that's my excuse for crap rowing of late! Plus the injury of course... Sent fr...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Great to see Erik posting here again - good luck with the 2k :D Jon is doing a great job keeping things moving, despite the demands of work - some good solid sessions there! Not much erging for me. I managed couple of 10ks last week at 36.2x, but pretty tired after a week in India for work. I have n...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Great training Jason - doms gone yet? How can you pass up a dinner in favour of a low rate hour Jon!?!?? What are you nuts? Well done for going through with that and also the CTC!! I managed a 5k run plus 3 sets of smith machine squats and bench press in a deserted hotel gym in Poland this morning. ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Chest and legs Jason! I did that today as well - too much really. I don't have your rugby background so my legs are a bit puny. I am considering a period of intensive resistance work with legs as a major component over the winter. Jon, that is a barnstorming 10k if you are recovering - congrats!!! B...

5k run in 21:38 yesterday, another kettlebell workout today. Had meant to improve on my 60' today, but don't feel the force is with me today!

Encouraging signs Andy!
Erik, your power cleans sound a bit like my kettlebell workouts. Is it developing leg strength? Decent 5k as well at that drag Erik

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Lots of solid 5k low rate stuff going on!

10k from a cold start today as short of time.

35:19.2 1:46.2, 29spm

SB by 7 sec, feels like I am about 90% of PB form. Need another couple of weeks of 10k and 60' 3-4x per week to get there...

Another quality low rate 5k there Jason.

Glad you are back on the erg Erik - stop messing about, you can do that hour I did and more, no problem. I remember when you did all those 16500+ hours on consecutive days....
