As speculation, more likely that the rating was lower - taking a second look, its possible that I was adopting a more consistent pace (whether with power strokes or not) than my previous attempt....

Can't believe how low your HR went on that last session, did you hit "the wall"? As I found that this paradoxically lead to lower HR.

Today was appreciably more modest than Iain's sessions (though curiously I'm getting quite a lot of 1k-5k improvement as well as cardio ...

This was as vile as it looks - I had a negative split in mind, but that all got thrown out the proverbial window after the first split.. The blip in the last split was a momentary HD but I'm very glad to have pushed on and logged a score.

Thanks for the spreadsheet upkeep Fred - I shall genuinely be glad if Claudius et al manage to post a couple of scores this year.

Jon – nice valuable session, particularly at that HR.
Spider – your traditional exemplary control too!
Iain – superb control for that distance.

I think there needs to be a all round pat on back - there's definitely something in the air at the moment (not that I put huge credence in it, but HRV is all over the place and peak HR has been higher than it should be for the effort).

It's a nice idea (though not necessarily at full pace), but I will be working Christmas eve - or as Mrs B reminds me "I will be logged in" so limited time for a FM.

So much to catch up on!!!! I've been bimbling away in between pesky work commitments and will digest all the good results.

Claudius - as others have noted, hold that spm for such distances (and so consistently) is somewhat outside of my comprehension.

Simple session today: Nice result - HR drift was pretty much absent, so a good step up from last time. It's not going to make me like 18spm mind you.

Interesting result HR wise - better recovery during the marathon sections into the rest periods which is good to see. The 5k sections were considerably easier than Tuesday ...

Spider – nice (tough) session to achieve a negative split on in spite of the pressure to hit SPM targets.
Iain – 30S is a real test, as is 30’ !!! I think you’ll have a improvement on your SB without too much of an issue.
