Re: November 1k CTC
One last go
The threatened PB came to past - next to nothing in the tank and very pleased as I thought I'd outpaced myself in the first 200m.
Tako - you weren't a target, but you've a weekend to restore order

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Iain - agree you'll sail past 14k with training like that in the bank
Simple session today: Nice result - HR drift was pretty much absent, so a good step up from last time. It's not going to make me like 18spm mind you.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Thanks Iain - this cold weather seems to be suiting performance levels of not comfort..... 20241128_125732~2.jpg Interesting result HR wise - better recovery during the marathon sections into the rest periods which is good to see. The 5k sections were considerably easier than Tuesday unsurprisingly ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Spider – nice (tough) session to achieve a negative split on in spite of the pressure to hit SPM targets. Iain – 30S is a real test, as is 30’ !!! I think you’ll have a improvement on your SB without too much of an issue. Today: 20241127_102416~2.jpg A mixed bag today. This session (as previously) wa ...

*shakes fist at predictive text*
You may well be right - my raised eyebrow was also in terms of the reduced HR in later reps too.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Mat - great control at r20 =D> To day: 20241126_084518~2.jpg I cut my warm up shirt because of time constraints this morning so maybe that explains the first rep being a little high HR wise, but otherwise happy with the comparison. Speed of recovery is definitely going the right direction. This is ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Iain - irrespective of objectives, "only" 40k is a significant distance. Missed out on my intended longer distance this weekend so will be eyeing up this coming Sunday for a more focused effort. Today: 20241125_092108~2.jpg My sense of racing myself got in the way here, as I did increase pace ...

Re: November 1k CTC
Nice row Iain. IMG_20241123_081855.jpg Felt quite rested this morning so had in mind to rerow my last effort. If all felt good. Went out faster than I thought was wise but HR stayed reasonable so I ignored the 200m splits and just went 100m at a time, looking to hold 49s as long as possible In the ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Amongst other things to be impressed over : incredibly fast HR recovery ^O^ and well done on the pacing =D> 20241120_100316~2.jpg Very, very cold this morning (excuse no.1), so I'm not entirely surprised that my HR was a little patchy though within the cap (or more precisely at the limit). The ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Thanks Iain. Yes: it looks like I was overly cautious on this one relative to last week. The (marginally) greater part of the reduced distance was on the marathon reps so I will need to keep myself honest on those. As I move through the 12 week cycle (and repetitions thereof), I should have fewer of ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Last time through was a little adrift of target pace, so there was a easy win here in the end. Big plus is the improvement in recovery HR.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Training movement is a funny thing Spider - I'd say (if it isn't an in the moment blip), you will see benefits from the consistent training you're doing. Iain - impressive distances again, particularly at that rate. Creeping my Sunday distance up (24k now, holding pace to 2.08ish, 22spm). Today ...

Needs must this morning, so just a score on the board for the CTC for me (tree trunk legs ). I could only dream of 40spm+ and well done on all the PP results.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
That's a tough session to repeat (and see improvement from) Mat =D> 20241114_093719~2.jpg I recall treating this one as a low key session last time through, and hence the difference in pace is largely down to putting the required amount of effort in. This time through was manageable though not much ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Iain – I suppose I’m playing tricks on myself: the overall session rotation is 12 weeks (though in reality it is 4 weeks repeated as you’ve flagged), so I am indeed trying to compare with the same point on the cycle. In part my logic is to really smooth out the need to push the pace too fast, as for ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Iain – two very high value LSDs there. I’m certainly seeing benefit from that end of the training. The drop in temperature has meddle a little with my RPE vs HR (and for the latter I’m cautiously of the opinion that the readings are not quite as stable?). Interesting to digest your run from the 6/9 – ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
I too have a c breeze. I only tend to use it during the "hotter" months, but otherwise I agree the niggles with messing with drag factors aren't worth the effort. Aren - nice sequence of sessions. You may or may not have programmed ergzone with your max HR and resting HR as this may give you a ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Spider - 20spm is tough so well done for staying on with your customary consistency. Iain - will check in on any PP results! Myself and a fellow morning dog walker were lost for words. There's something to be said for being so unrepentantly finance focused, out of kilter with modern values and aggressively overconfident in your own intelligence.
None of it is complementary though.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Iain - had a similar weekend session. Wanted to do a FM but my mind had other plans. As for 20s reps ^O^ - drastic contrast; Spider - today's session for me was very similar.....
