Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

I'm not particularly shy about encouraging people to use the rowing machines in the gym (with heavy emphasis on do as I say, not necessarily as I do). Hopefully, a few will get engaged with the challenges and help float a few more boats in due course. I know I've found both the forum and the CTC inc...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aaWKji7QA0nnQd9ymFLH3Vm1_5Y5cGfmpo2RlTM8sPg/edit?usp=sharing Updated table linked in the above. Good showing of 31 entrants. Claudius has jumped into the top 4, with the top 3 unchanged. No anniversaries, but I believe we have a new entrant: welcome to JPC =D>

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

This is an eye opener for me at least. I used the gym machine for my first attempt and didn't check the df (158!!) and am seemingly not pushing SPM relative to others.

Good to see occupants in four boats this early in the month though =D> =D>

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

Given the thoughts above, I thought I would set a pace boat for 1.47 and hope to cling to that. As it was, I hit a wall at the half way point but - and I hate myself for thinking this - I wasn't *completely* destroyed at the end, and I was under my pace by some distance ..... https://uploads.tapatal...

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

I was next to a chap in the gym yesterday who was doing a mere 10 reps, and it looked hideous. No idea at all about pacing.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

First marathon of the year. I should really be pleased : 1) stroke rate was pretty consistent at 22-23; 2) heart rate stayed on my cv range apart from two random peaks; 3) I stuck to two fluid breaks at 22km and 35km, and that worked well (previously a break at halfway led to a break at 10k to go, a...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

A new experience for me: genuinely hr (aimed for no more that mid 140s) and spm capped (aimed for less than 20) hour. I just can't seem to relax when rowing (ha!, who'd have thought) , so the hr found its way into the 150s for a good chunk, but in the last third dropped back into the 120s. Very happ...

11:01.2 total at 31spm average ( 1:50.2 overall average ) I can barely hear your post over the sound of that gauntlet being thrown down. Great row Dave. ---------- First attempt. This served to prove that my 2km pace is soft (which deep down I knew), and confirm that I won't relish future attempts ...

Re: Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard

Ian, thanks for taking over this baton. You have me on 65 lifetime CTCs. I think I'm on 72. It was 70 in the list I posted in January and I have done 2 since. Also, you are bound to miss some challenges from Free Spirits who were not in the 'Club 50' if you are taking the lifetime numbers from the ...

Re: 2018/19 Summary and Aspirations for 2019/20

Thanks Dave - I had to remind myself of my giddy aspirations set last May: For next year some "realistic" objectives: - A full house of CTCs would be nice, with occasional visits to boat number 2 - A sub 3 hour FM, and a sub 40 minute 10km. In the event, my rather sparse set of objectives proved ach...
