Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

Yesterday I hadn't rowed at all for 15 months and have been cycling instead (90+ miles a week taking my little one to nursery and back), so whatever i did was going to be a SB. However, I surprised myself when i challenged myself to the 'hour of power'. I was hoping for anything over 15000m; I ended...

Re: Blast from the past: Where are they now?

Thanks Guys, I'm just gonna stick to getting the groove back on the rower for a while Alan. You are dead right, Evesham 2008 I did my one and only race, thoroughly enjoyed it too; perhaps I should do another; once the stamina/fitness/mental fortitude has returned a little. Steady 1:45's are a long w...

Re: Blast from the past: Where are they now?

I've just rowed 5k in 20mins for the first time in 18months and oddly found myself back on the old (but new) website; almost feels like I've never been away except for the tightness in my arms, back and legs! I have been running HM's on and off the last few years with intermittent rowing (generally ...

The Scrap man, who comes down my street 4 times a week. picture this; blaring air horn followed by, 'enn odd uuurrrnnnn' took me ages to understand his accent. I actually don't mind the service he offers but when you hear him and get the scrap ready for him, he's bloody well disappeared down ...

It looks as though no-one kept their connection all the way through the 100k on row pro but I did notice Lee's very nice new shiny figure on the metre board! How was it Lee? Congratulations ^O^

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

It's not a slip of the finger - I've taken the wire mesh off. I get a df of 105 with the damper at it's lowest, up to 295 or so at damper 9 - once you hit 300 it reverts to something like 45 on the monitor, and about 110 at max damper, which I would guess is approx. 255 + 110 = 365df - certainly fe...

4251m in 18:03.0 @ 2:07.3 on 4/11/2007, all I can remember is trying to keep going for 30 minutes and not managing it  how things change?

Re: Meter board banter

Looking at the meter board (as I do, being the reporteur du jour for season millionaires), I notice that there's a gap of over 350k between 15th and 16th. Not able to row for a couple of days and I obviously have too much time on my hands. Paul V Paul, Part of the reason for the gap is that ...

really embarassed that I missed this happening  , truly amazing effort. Interesting to "hear" how it affected you. My hip flexors were my worst affected after the event, but far from shortening the stroke, my leanback got more excessive as shown by the video of Dave's. to tell the t...

Re: Children in Need Marathon: JustGiving Link now live

Update: I've been struggling with a slight cold for the last week, and the bad news is that it is not clearing up, and I'm seeing a significant form drop-off on my training/HR data. Time to be sensible, so I'm probably going to postpone the marathon attempt until next week. (I'll do a very light se...

Re: Yet another Nutty Challenge....

Lee,

If I had to do it again 2:10 would be my starting point and I'd just focus a lot harder in the middle section where all the pain kicks in. When I say pain it's more like discomfort and with a lot of grit, fortitude and focus I'm sure it'd be possible to maintain the pace; at least for sub 7:30!

Did your hands lock up, as well? I remember that being a problem even at 2hr plus distances... Re: Yet another Nutty Challenge....

Having now recovered mostly from my 100k row, I thought i'd do a bit of a breakdown of each 10k of the race for those interested; These figures are very much estimates apart from the last one as I set the pm3 up for one interval of 100k instead of 10 x 10k with no rests #-o Dist. time pace/500m 20k ...
