Comeback again

Back on the rower again after a long while off... Was doing karate through 2014-2016, but a few injuries and my kid's losing interest lead to me dropping it. Big mistake was not picking up some physical activity to replace it and playing way too much star wars galaxy of heroes on my phone for a year...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Set a new PB on the Full Marathon tonight. First PB since 2011, and that was an FM as well. Also my first row of the new season. Anyway, the stats: 3:09:37.7@2:14.8R25. A little more than 4 minutes faster than my 2011 PB. I was watching the movie "The Right Stuff" to pass the time, and my ...

Re: Marathon Challenge

Just did one today to get my pin for this season. Sitting on a folded towel helped the backside. Make sure you take on water regularly in small quantities (line up some small cups next to the erg so you can down one between strokes), even if you are not thirsty...by time you feel the thirst it is to...

Re: Why did you join Free Spirits and why do you stay?

I have lapsed in training a number of times but keep coming back. This team has by far the best website (I especially like the meterboard), and probably the friendliest forum around. Also have a lot of emotions invested as well as fond memories of meeting several of the team at BIRC 2008 and Crash-B...

Re: World Erg Challenge

Finished just a little over 200m behind you Plummy. I slacked off for a few days after passing 5MM lifetime meters on Saturday. Managed to drop 14 pounds during the World Erg Challenge. 29# down now at 45 days into my employers weight loss challenge with just over 2 weeks left to go. Back in the row...

By the looks of the thread, he disappeared on exactly the day as Silvia, as her posts with his pictures were the last days she posted on this forum. :-k Hope they both did not get locked in Alcatraz accidentally as part of the LA tour. 17k today put me past 5,000,000m total :D Congratulations! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> I presume that's a lifetime total and that plummy will update the lifetime millionaires spreadsheet accordingly. You are correct, it is for "lifetime". With the exception of the last 42 days I was a slacker for...

Re: A new Club distance target for 2012

would it not be e^(pi*i) since we are doing this all "e"lectronically, and the we are rowing on "i"maginary boats rather than real ones. e^(pi*i) =-1. How do we do a minus-one meter row? :P

Re: Global Marathon Challenge - May 1st to 15th

Have good row Yambo  There are plenty of threads with advice on Full Marathons on this board. My two cents for what it is worth: 1) take on water and carbs every 20-30 minutes, even toward the beginning when you don't "feel" like you need it 2) don't go any faster than your target...

Re: Global Marathon Challenge - May 1st to 15th

I've been able to download both certificates (yes I've done both an Fm and HM as separate pieces this month). There will be links to the certificates on the Challenges tab of the online logbook and there will be links to cafe express if you want to buy coffee mugs and what not. Recieved my marathon ...

My thoughts exactly....4 sub 7 2ks back-to-back is fantastic Andy =D> .

Plummy's PBs must have involved more pain than I can imagine. ^O^ ^O^ ^O^ Ivan Drago's words describe you well--"He's not human. He's like a piece of iron"

Re: High EPOC value

As Steve mentions, the EPOC correlations are built on empirocal data. That data encompassed mid distance steady pieces, and it only relates to cardiovascular fatigue. Applying the EPOC to sessions that signifcantly different than mid distance means you are extrapolating outside the valid range of th...

From the logbooks it looks like I shared the number one spot with Andrea Duemplemann on May 1. Guess we both either wanted marathon pins for the new season really bad or be able to check the box for the global marathon challenge (May 1 - May 15) =P~ . JD restored order within 24 hours

I've been trying to get past a chest cold this week. Started feeling like rubbish on Saturday, and it went downhill from there. Does being sore from coughing count as a workout? Today has been better, but still a ways yet to get back to normal. :x
