Re: Name that tune

Next clues:

Another line (other than being from the same song, no relationship to the previous line):

Am I coming out of left field?

Also, speaking of European charting, the name of the band begins with a European country's name... :)

Re: Name that tune

When I say football, I'm talking about what you Americans refer to as soccer. LoL, I was only playing the naive and/or stupid American - It's hard to get the joke across the pond correctly, I guess... :D You are up next. Thank you, Jill. I'm kind of hesitant to try this one as it's pretty new (unde...

Re: Name that tune

In football parlance, I think my contribution counts as an assist. In the US there's no "assist" in football! ( ) Basketball, yes... On a more serious note, your contribution would have absolutely been an assist if I hadn't already figured it out. I know I have no proof of this, but I was sit...

Excellent guess, that's where I was headed as well, but couldn't pull up the song for "I keep you amused" (thought at first it was a Stones song).

Gentlemen, thank you very much for taking the time to comment. I appreciate you sharing your stories and experiences. Looking back, I probably should have taken the results of that first test more seriously and at least discussed it with my doctor. I also read Bob Harper's story and follow-ups. Bob ...

First, I want to be clear that I'm not looking for medical advice, just opinions to weigh... You won't be responsible for anything I may do going forward... :) Okay, so 8 years ago, my wife and I, for unclear reasons now, took advantage of the local hospitals offer for a $49 heart scan. Her arteries...

Isn’t it amazing how much impact just one minute of rowing can have on you. Sure is! I am suitably humbled... :) In my last row I went from an HR of 106 to 180 in 60 seconds. It doesn’t get more full on than that! :~c I haven't seen my HR top 165 in my entire life. I just don't think I'm wi...

Re: May ctc - 1‘, standing start

Well, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting this... I adjusted the footplate, and that most definitely helped with my flying-off-the-seat problem and allowed for an all-out effort. Honestly, I thought I could maintain about any pace I was capable of getting to for 1 minute - I me...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

Nothing impressive by any means, but my post-strength-workout 5K resulted in a more respectable (for me) SB of 20:33.2. The fact that it came after my workout allows me some room to hope that I'm improving... :)

Re: May ctc - 1‘, standing start

Thanks for the tip, Peter! That aligns with what I picked up by searching the Concept2 forum for sprinting tips! Kind of wish I had it on film... that first yank had to be hilarious. In hindsight, I'm probably lucky I didn't hurt myself!

Re: May ctc - 1‘, standing start

Well, that was fun. I rowed a slow 2K just to get warmed up. Set up my 1 Min row. Patiently waited for the flywheel to stop spinning as I flexed and stretched (old weightlifter's tricks for psyching up for a big effort). Flywheel stops, both hands on the handle, knowing I have to overcome the first ...

Re: May ctc - 1‘, standing start

Question team - Does "Standing Start" mean the flywheel has to be still, or can it be pre-spun, handle down, then start? My first attempt was with a still flywheel, and it was definitely noticeable spinning it up. Thanks, and sorry for the dumbish question.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

I think my PB for 1 minute is 340 meters, but I'll be very lucky to get within 10% of that figure. As you suggest, I think I'll make my first effort just a 'completion' entry and then maybe try to improve on this bit by bit over what's left of this month. Sounds like a sensible plan. 344 per your l...
