Re: 2018/19 Summary and Aspirations for 2019/20

Excellent idea to pause for a moment and look back on the last 12 months. My goal was to row 5000 km and I managed to achieve that. I also did 573 km on the BikeErg, but this device joined the family late this season in January. And I also managed 400 km on the SkiErg. Altogether almost 6 million me...

Re: New training schedule

No, a stupid but serious cold is the reason. Fever is already gone but I still have trouble breathing. Maybe I will try some easy workout tomorrow. I'm so frustrated. After all I've been through this season, it is a simple cold that might be the reason I won't achieve my goals. But, that's life. Tha...

Re: New training schedule

Fortunately, I was able to repair it with instructions from concept support. Turns out, there is a ‚secret‘ screw. Once it is tightend the noise goes away. Fist shake at concept: this information must be included in the manual! After 3 rides now, I really like the BikeErg. Very demanding, but only f...

Re: New training schedule

Figures. First training on the BikeErg and I broke it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uqi0fvtwjrmd15k/BikeErg.mp4?dl=0 Well, all the rowing this season. Lot of strength in my legs. Yep, that must be the reason  Curious what support at concept will tell me. Can I fix it by myself or will I need repla...

Re: New training schedule

Thanks, Wolfie. Yep, the massages are the highlight of my week. I‘m pretty sure that my back would be much worse without them.

Tomorrow will be the first BikeErg day. I‘m pretty excited.

Re: New training schedule

The rise and fall of an ambitious rower. I guess that sums up my season so far. All was going well up until Christmas when the back problems started. Switching to an alternating schedule with rowing and the SkiErg helped with my lower back which is back to normal again. But the tension and slight pa...

Re: New training schedule

Thank you for all the good whishes! Lower back is not feeling too good. I really have trouble standing straight. Slow rowing is ok and does not seem to make it worse. I'm pretty sure it is sciatic problems. Taking some meds which make the pain bearable. Good news is that it seems to get better a lit...

Re: New training schedule

Crazy Bear Challenge is over and I went completely nuts with it. Mind over body works but is not always the best choice. But first the results of the last 45 days. 30 HM were required, I did 45. Here are the results: 1x 1:25:xx 5x 1:26:xx 6x 1:27:xx 16x 1:28:xx 17x 1:29:xx That is an average of 1:28...

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge

45 HM in 45 days. Pretty sure, I will not do that again. And please remind me of my promise if I'll ever try something stupid like that again. 30 would be cruel enough, but no, I had to go for 45. Ambition is something good, but not if taken to the extreme.

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge

Hi, my name is Juergen and I'm a rowaholic. I'm a HM junkie. In the last 30 days I did 30 HM. Can't go longer than 24 hours without a fix. I thought, I have it under control and can stop whenever I want to. But I can't. Have to go on.

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge

I get up at 4am, take a bite from the flapjack (450 calories per 100g, I actually order them from the UK) on my nightstand, get dressed and row. I eat a little something because I got a bit nauseous towards the end of the first HM I did. When I‘m only rowing one hour in the morning, I don‘t eat anyt...

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge

Thanks guys. Yep, this is brutal. I think, I read somewhere, that most of the meters of Mr. Dowd are not rowed but on a bike. But not sure where I read it.

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge

Your posting with the link has disappeared. When it was there yesterday I was not able to edit the sheet. First I had to log into my google account and then I was prompted to ask the creator of the sheet for permission.

Now it seems fine.

Re: New training schedule

After posting my review I felt like doing something special (special being the new crazy). So, I decided to go for another FM. I felt pretty strong the whole way through and managed another PB at 2:52:30,4 which is over 2 min 40 sec faster then my previous PB. Didn't have to stop to walk around or d...
