Just done my 1k. Didn't really have much time but decided that I would go to the gym, just do the 1k and leave it at that. No warm-up, No warm-down and some very strange looks from the gym staff at this mad bloke doing a 5 minute work out!

Very surprised by a 3:28.5 result for a PB.

Updated for my 5k pb the other week and the fact that this months CTC took me longer than 30 mins so I have a time for that which I didn't have before.... Ergonaut (Roger Bangay) - 9258 Granny - 8646 Gremlin (Philip Price) - 8633 Kirby Tillotson (kirbington) 8562 Mark Evans (Longshanks) 8495 Oliva -...

A combination of work, the fact that I hurt my back and pure lazyness have kept me off the erg for about 10 days now...... So I decide to try the CTC on my first day back. ](*,) The idea was just to 'go the distance' because I've never done more than 6K before at any one time. So I'm quite p...

Hmmmm, it's 1777m more than I've ever rowed in a single sitting. After the Jan challenge I was hoping for a longer distance but this might be a bit too far. Not only am I not sure I can complete it but it's going to be a problem fitting it into my lunch break. Still, I'll give it a go at some point ...

It's been a really bad month for me with more days not rowing than rowing. Still you are more than welcome to the few I did manage. Not that it made any difference!

Inspired by all the PB's floating around recently and some seriously load AC/DC on the I-pod I moved my 5K PB from 19:07.0 down to 18:56.1

Not sure what to do now..... the I-pod doesn't go any louder!!!

It's nice to see so many improvements and our first graduation. Feel free to stick around Plummy and give the rest of us the benefit of your experience. :D

I must have another go at a proper 2k jsut to see if there has been any improvement..... fingers crossed....

Hi Steve, welcome to the madhouse  I'm pretty new to this myself and I started out doing about 4 days per week. Just before Christmas I was up to 5 days (with weekends off) but I'm back down to 4 at the moment. I think it depends on how you row. If you can manage the limited heart rate sessions...

My intention was to go for a pb before the EIRC, but with only a few days to go I reckon I'll just have a go at EIRC and see what I can pull out of the bag - I reckon I'll beat 7.22.2 - hope so anyway. Wojtek With all the PP training you have been putting in I think you stand a very good chance of ...

Well, I'm back after yet another week of no erging. I promised myself last year that I'd hve a proper attempt at this 'sub 7' thing so I better keep my promise. I've started with a small training plan which is a sort of short version of the PP. I don't have the time each day or the number of days in...

Had another go today and improved to 46.9 but I'm not sure I can go much faster. I feel like I can pull a lot harder on the erg but if my SPM goes over 34 then I tend to fall off the seat so it probably points to terrible technique!

Thanks all for the advice, much appreciated.

No rowing today because the car died this morning! Still I think I have it fixed with parts from the local breakers yard. Whole thing might have only cost me a morning of effort and less that £5

Fingers crossed

Well I managed to give this one a go after a 5k I did this lunchtime. Recorded a 48.1 which isn't great (by my standards) but I really hate very short sprints. I think my technique must be bad because I just can't get over 34SPM without falling off the machine!

January blues

Anyone else suffering or any tips on how to get over them? Not sure why but I'm really struggling to get going this year. I had a lot of motivation and drive before the Christmas break but now it seems to have dissapeared. I've done a few 5k sessions this year and they all felt flat and somehow 'wro...

Electronic Christmas card

Hi all This is my last day at work before the new year \:D/ so I'll not be doing any erging or much posting for a couple of weeks. I'll try and keep up with the forums however I'd like to take this oppertunity to say.... Over the last couple of months you have all helped to make my erging really fun...

If I hadn't just wrecked my hands during a CTC attempt I was going to give it a go before Christmas. Just have to see how I feel tomorrow

A big improvement on that restricted row of yours, well done.

With only two rowing days left before Christmas (for me anyway) I thought I'd have another go at this months CTC. I have a serious question though. Is it possible for an uncleaned erg to register incorrect times? I'm thinking not because it's a closed system. OK so it might be dirty but would that e...

I made my pathetic attempt today and another FS is afloat Not listening to that! Boat I or boat XI doesn't matter. You put your effort in for FS that's what matters. Firstly; I'm not sure how I missed your efforts Kirby but belated ^O^ =D> for that fantastic time! I wanted to do a slow 5k today because I was feeling a little sore from yesterdays 15minute CTC attempt after a week off. Problem was after 1k I was feeling great and after 2k I decided this could turn...
