Re: May CTC - 3 x 1k / 5 min rest

Not been training my sustainable red-line 1k/2k pace recently so didn't want go to out too fast in the first couple of intervals. Nice to know that the afterburners are still working though (final 100m of final rep). Might squeeze a bit more out if I get chance for a second go but I suspect that Tak...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019

Feeling rather better than I have done for a few days. Not great but good enough that Sundays attempt on the IRL was starting to bug me. Had to fit this & a CTC into lunchtime so I chose to do this first as I wasn't sure I'd fancy anything else after the 1500. Pleased with the result. Partly because...

Re: APRIL CTC - single 1500m

Sorry team. Still not 100% but had to try to fit an IRL 500m & the CTC into the same lunchtime. This was the rather unfortunate result. Body was still in sprint mode & the first split felt stupidly easy. I wasn't fooled but there was nothing I could do about it. Apocalyptic FnD. Really not fun. CTC_...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019

Team Guy. Nice improvement Plummy - on tired legs too. Great work. Been feeling pretty rough for a few days. Some sort of virus I guess which makes me wake up with what feels like a hangover. Given that I don't drink alcohol anymore I feel this is most unfair ! Not sure if I'll get another shot now,...

Re: Meter board banter

I reckon you're safe enough Ian. With the kids being off & the like I've been able to put in a few unusually large weeks recently but I'll be back to something a bit more sustainable now. This is already my highest meters season (woo - go me !! ;)

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019

Team Guy Realised the other day that I hadn't posted a score so hastily added a time from early in the month (which I had managed to post for the Fitness Matters challenge - getting forgetful in my old age !). Then I was sat at work yesterday thinking I should be able to go a bit faster so I had ano...

Thanks Ian, hip abductors bizzarely sore today so I must have been working ! Best of luck getting under 1:50 if you get another chance Joe. Hope you're feeling a bit perkier soon Plummy. There does seem to be something doing the rounds at the moment & this one does need a fair bit of oxygen however ...

Re: March ctc - 666/333/666/333/666/333/666/333 - 10' 30" total rest

Quick update - it's past my bedtime !! Not done anything under 1:50/500 for weeks so went for unusual rests. Certainly not the most efficient way to get this one done, but possibly effective given my current balance of fitness. Found a unexpected rocket for the last rep at the bottom of the pit of d...

Re: February 19 CTC - 2801m

I can't say I knew Anne well but I met her on a couple of occasions so it was good to be able to remember her this way. I was due a 60R20 this lunchtime anyway so I thought I'd get into the low rate groove with a R19 attempt. Fairly happy with my rate control but pace is still too variable stroke to...

Re: EIRC 2019 (English Indoor Rowing Championships)

Well raced Andrea & Dave. Second with a PB & a seasons best respectively - excellent performances both ! As mentioned by Plummy, I was as at the English IRC last Sunday and I promised to try & be a bit more active on the forum. (This isn't the first time I've tried to be a bit more active but I'm no...

Re: January 19 CTC - 20/R20

Finally taken care of both the Christmas kgs & the Christmas lurgy so had a go. I always struggle to hold a R20 pace that seems to relate to my free rate paces when I compare what others can do so I wasn't expecting to challenge any of the excellent times already posted. I also hurt my ribs last Jan...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019

This lunchtimes effort. Similar story to my CTC last week - mentally I'm convinced I'm still a bit off fully recovered from BRIC, but once I get going I surprise myself. Within about 8 seconds of a seasons best which I'm very pleased with.

Re: December ctc - 30 minutes, standing start

Lots of enthusiasm for this one I see. And some strong efforts too. Nice one cracking the 7500 barrier Plummy ! I'm still feeling a bit flat after the BRIC and wasn't expecting too much but surprised myself with this effort last night. Tantalisingly close to Claudius's result - obviously lwt is suit...

Re: Bavarian Indoor Rowing Cup 2018

Excellent work Claudius ! And lightweight too - very well done sir. It's always a little added stress until you have your weight certified & I know all to well what you will have gone through. But to be able to race as lwt (whether or not you had any opponents) and take 2nd place of the 4 including ...

Not really capable of a race analysis just yet but managed a 2k PB which was good enough for the 40+ lwt win and apparently also faster than the open lwts

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2018 / 2019

Team Guy Well done everyone who's using this month to nail a fast 6k on the way as if it was no big deal !! Let alone Ian with a 5k pace - great work ! No such fireworks from me. With 2k, 1k & 500m races in the next few weeks I've shunned anything close to this long (apart from recovery paced rows) ...
