Re: New ctc site

OK. I have applied a new factor of x2 to the scores in the tool to compensated for the smaller number of total boats listed on the new site (i.e. only floated boats are now listed). I have also tried to fix the issue that Iain pointed out whereby a boat may end up with lower points when floating rat...

Re: April CTC - The Baker's Dozen

I decided to have a trial run to see what was what in this one. I have not done a challenging 2k for ages so that wasn’t a good benchmark. I did this month’s CTC at a pace of 1:57 so I decided to start there and see what happened. As you can see, that was too easy a pace and I picked up as I went al...

Re: New ctc site

Thanks for all your effort again, Jon. Will be a bit complicated to calculate the scores by hand perhaps, but should be possible. Fred, I have managed to cobble together a solution but it is a bit (a lot!) of a hack. I have had to download the html showing the current scores, upload it to our serve...

I just checked Ian and I can't access anything either. So it looks like they have a problem.

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

You make a good point Colin. I really need to at least fill all the times even if they are poor (the bad ones will help with the Metanonathlon next year anyway. I'm really struggling with my back so I'll have to spend my ergo time wisely. Actually, I just had a look and only 500m and HM have a score...

Thanks for all your effort again, Jon. Will be a bit complicated to calculate the scores by hand perhaps, but should be possible. I'm not even sure we have landed on a method yet. The nice thing about the tool is that it was very easy to experiment with different scoring techniques until we could g...

Re: March CTC: 2K

Our CTC tool is still not working. I will try to find some time before the end of the month to get it fixed. It remains to be seen what the new site will do at the end of the month. If they just switch over to the new event without providing access to the previous events then it will be a bit frustr...

BTW: Is the ctc site down? I get a server error "Request failed: unexpected exception..." when accessing it. I can't see the current leaderboard and cannot change my result. I haven’t had any issues with the site. But our own tool that accesses it is broken at the moment. I suspect they h...

Is this broken? or is it me doing it wrong trying to update my seasons bests. It was broken after I had upgraded the website software Colin, but I thought I had fixed it. It is working for me. Can you tell me what the issue is that you are having? It looks like you have tried to add a screenshot to...

Anyone had any PBs recently?

New PB at 2k after two years Only 3 seconds less, but I'm not getting any younger. But the 2k is still something I have a lot of respect and dislike for. Congratulations! Any 2K improvement is a real achievement. That looks very well paced too and great speed at low stokes per minute. As you say, i...

Jon, after registering yesterday, I thought that I had posted my time that placed me in a ( then ) full boat. Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

I exclusively use ErgZone without the upgrade Rob. I get a lot of data but not things like the graphs you are talking about and the power curves etc. I like it because of how easy it is to set up new sessions. As others have pointed out, given I use it so much I should probably subscribe, but when I...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Well done Rob. 2k PB is always a special one. Now you have a target pace (new PB) I reckon you could improve the time again with a classic 2k pacing approach. For info. my pacing approach was always: fast 100m to start, taper down to target pace so I am there by 250m. Hold until 400-500m to go. Grad...

Re: New ctc site

Aha. I understand what you are saying now Iain....I think. So, if I look at the current CTC, there are 44 boats afloat. FSII is in 20th place and so has (44-20) x 1.2 points which is 29 points when rounded. This gives those ashore 50% of 29 points which is 15 when rounded. If those ashore managed to...

I didn’t HD Iain, I just lost track of where I was. But you are right, I never HD even if it means just paddling to the end of a session.

Re: New ctc site

Iain, I haven’t changed the calculation other than adding in the 1.2 factor because the unfloated boats no longer count in the total number of boats. We have been running with 50% of the lowest boat for unfloated boats all of last season after The Diamonds made the number of boats so high that the o...

My usual 3x4/3/2/1min with rate changes. Aim is to get to 85% HR quickly and then stay below 95%. Zoned out during first piece and stopped before the 1min. [emoji2361]
