Re: April ctc - 10‘r20 - 5‘r - 10‘r20, the slower one to count
Most of my Concept 2 efforts of late have been on the BikeErg and to a lesser extent the SkiErg but rowing will always be near and dear to my heart. Figured I'd drop in on the last day of the month/season and have a crack at the CTC. Hope all my fellow Free Spirits are doing well on and off th...

Re: September ctc - 2818m, standing start, free stroke rate
Following a very structured (and tough) CrossFit program which doesn’t leave me much time or energy to row but don’t want to break my CTC participation streak.

Re: August ctc - 6 x 1' / 1'r, rolling starts except #1
Lots of great efforts! =D> I'm following a very structured and rigorous crossfit training plan that includes very little rowing. In the best shape of my life and doing things I never imagined doing at almost 49 but a bit specific rowing fitness has definitely been lost in the process. august_2018_ct...

Re: June ctc - 10k, no stroke rate restrictions
I knew it had been a long time since I rowed a 10k. November 18th of last year to be exact!!! Can't say the phrase "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" exactly applies but it wasn't too bad. No way I will get near my PB (36:45) but if I can grind out some appropriate interval sessio...

Re: May ctc - 1k / 3'r / 992m, standing starts
Nice work by all who've participated =D> 1k's are a tough distance. You feel pretty sassy for the first 300-400 and then do the math...you're not even half way! For some unknown (or maybe known...see next sentence) reason I have done mostly short intervals recently. I vividly recall 1k int...

I underestimated this one a bit...particularly the 500's!
Pleased with effort and results so the pain was worth it.
Lots of great rows by the Free Spirits!

Re: The Pete Plan
Next step in the progression. Averaged 1:46.4 for the 500's so pleased with this effort. Interesting to look back on my training diary when I was at a similar pace for this progression. I rowed an 8159m 30 minutes and a 21:39 6k. Don't think I could (at least mentally) do that right now. I'm willing...

Re: The Pete Plan
Dipping my toes back in the water a bit with some 5k plan sessions.
6 x 1k was tough. HR spiked pretty quickly and all but the first felt rather awful. Not sure why I started with this one.
12 x 500 felt pretty good. Will work up through the 600's and 750's next.

Lots of great scores on the board! =D> 3rd try at this. 1. 3867 2. 3935 3. 3981 Given my recent lack of rowing it's turned out to be a good way to get back in to the swing of things. Overall I'm definitely in better shape than I've been in a long time but when it comes to rowing fitness there is def...

Nice work fellow Free Spirits! [-o< Took a few weeks off to let the back heal. Fortunately I was able to ride my Assault Bike so I don't think I lost any overall fitness but returning to the rower after any extended period off is always tough. Amazing how long 15 minutes feels! Figure I'll do ...

Back is in pretty bad shape. My wonderful wife has to help me get my socks on...bless her! [-o< Didn't want to break whatever CTC streak I have going so lowered the DF and gave it my best. Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club
Illness, injury and apathy made the 11 - 12 million leg of the journey challenging but I made it and am feeling - mostly - better. Strained my back doing some heavy kettlebell work but hoping I can give the CTC a decent shot before months end - in 2 days! Twelve Million Meter Certificate.jpg

Back has been acting up a bit so I rowed a warmup at 1:54.8 and was set to use that. Stretched for a bit and decided to give it a full go. Had to lower the drag and up the rate a bit but got a decent score all things considered.

Haven't been rowing much so really didn't know what to expect. Used Boat 2 as a target and it wasn't exactly easy getting a seat but I did it...for now. Nice work by all! =D> This was a tough one. Hard 1k's are an evil distance and after you do those 250's they seem even longer and more evil. :twist...

Glad your back held up and allowed you to submit a score Paul. =D> Mine has been acting up a bit as well. Strange thing is there's only a few things that really bother it and rowing happens to be one of them. Doesn't hurt so much while rowing but when I'm done and stand up it tends to lock up and is...

Vowed not to wait until last day of month to do this. Rate restricted effort to get a feel for things. Plan was 1:44 but 1st rep felt ok. Subsequent ones less so but I managed to hold the pace.

Nice work by all those that gave this a go. =D> I have not been at all in the mood to row lately so I waited until the last day to get this done. Was dreading the 1250 but it didn't end up being quite as bad as I had feared although that minute rest went by really quickly! 500 - 1:38.9 - 32 1250 - 1...

Heck of a row after 3 weeks off Ralf!
Just noticed I was .4 seconds behind Morten. 21:50.5 vs. 21:50.2. No way I'm going again. OK with boat 2.

Glad to hear your back is on the mend Paul.
Not been rowing quite as hard lately as I've been focusing more on crossfit/kettlebell training so I was pleased with this effort. Forgot how much "fun" an all out 6k was.

That's a very impressive 5k David! =D>
Just to give you and idea of pacing for a 2k - I was in the 6:35 - 6:40 range when I rowed a similar 5k.
Keep up the good work!

After over a week of feeling weak I finally felt up to giving this a shot. Not too bad. Think I can improve a bit with a few more tries.
Puzzling PM5 math as someone with the exact splits ended up with 31.2 and 1:18.0
15.8 - 1:19.0 - 49
15.5 - 1:17.5 - 50
31.4 - 1:18.5
