Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km

Managed to knock five seconds off my time this season and break my fifteen year old pb to record 7:17.2. Still horribly positively split so hopefully there's a few more easy seconds to gain. Weight 62.8kg and no age bonus for me yet.

That looks like some effort to pb by that much. Now you need a new thread ;)

Had a first attempt today and managed 3:10.8 on the way to a 3:27.3 1km. Went off a bit fast and then faded as usual :)

Slightly improved today to 1:35.5, but still 1.5s away from my SB. Don't think it does anything much to my placing though.

Re: The Pete Plan

That's a nice improvement Peter, gives me something to aim at next time ;) Managed to sneak in a Midnight session today, and having done an hour on the bike yesterday thought I better do some intervals. Last time (mid November) for the 3k,2.5k,2k was 1:56.2, so I thought I'd go for 1:55: 11:28.2 300...

I like the contemplation row. "Do I really want to do a hard 500m today or maybe a long slow row would be good too" :)

Re: The Pete Plan

Only a week after my last session, 4x1Km r3:30 (I got the rests wrong since it should have been 5 mins), target from a long time ago was 1:52.1 so I thought I should be able to do 1:50 by now

1K 25spm @1:49.5
1K 26spm @1:49.2
1K 26spm @1:49.6
1K 27spm @1:49.7

Job done.

Re: The Pete Plan

I think the approach makes sense, as there becomes a point when it gets much harder to improve since you can't improve forever. I've never managed to really stick to the plan for more than a few months, but tend to go off and do something else, e.g. running or cycling. And for November I just did lo...

Re: September Meet?

I'd definitely be interested, depending exactly when it was and whether I could get there on public transport, although looks like there's a couple of stations within walking distance. Not really interested in the tank, but definitely could be in some real rowing/sculling. I've not done it for about...

Re: February 14th CTC - Carole's McNally Memorial - 1402m

I knew that this was going to be tough on the warm-up. It was one of those days where it just felt hard and I lacked power. Still there's only one chance for this so I decided to give it a go anyway. I was targeting 5 minutes, but slipped in the second 500m and couldn't quite bring it back. Final re...

Re: The Pete Plan

What kind of training did you do in the meantime? November was mostly off due to other commitments, but then I did a lot of longer rows as part of the challenge. Early January I did quite a bit of running, until I got injured and have been back rowing longer distances again just recently. 16K at a ...

Re: The Pete Plan

Grobi, did you read the bit about there being only 2 interval sessions per week? ;) Seems a bit keen to me! Good luck for the race on Saturday. I haven't done proper intervals for a while so am trying to get back into doing them regularly. I've stayed reasonably fit, but have missed quite a bit of t...

Re: WAARC - February 2013 - 500m

My foot is finally getting a bit better so thought I'd try this after a few days of eating too much and not doing any training. I didn't have any particular plan but to go as hard as I could and see what happened. This resulted in HD after about 300m. I'd obviously not done one of these for a while ...

10 x 1 min / 1 min rest today.

Struggled to keep it under 1.45 today versus 1.43 for the December ctc. Not sure where all the power went :(
