Re: Do i need to cross train / weight train ?
Guys, Thanks so much. Looks like its probably worth me doing at least some weight based training. Greg i would guess I am along way short of the sort of lifts you mention so will do the tests and work on achieving the levels. If anything i find i have a tendency to over-train, I love pulling hard on...

Re: Do i need to cross train / weight train ?
Hi,
Pretty idle if im honest . Occasional runs and quite active lifestyle but no serious training.
Since i started back have managed a 41:27 10k and last night a 1:35:7 500m which did nearly kill me!
Early 40's - 6ft and carrying to much weight !

A few days off I think, woke up today and my right hand is quite painfull across the base of the thumb, not happy
Hoping that its just a slight strain and nothing more, we will see. Guess it gives me an oppurtunity to clock some road miles

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Hi What do you do to warm up? Hi Jonathan, Short answer I don't ! I know i know :) Long answer - I normally Run/Row/Weights as this seems to work for me best, runing acting as warm up and weights as warm down. Now and then if i really want to concentrate on strengh (last night) i will hit the weight...

Shattered at the gym last night so also a nothing row for me - did finish on 6666m which was scary ! :( I did do 3 or 4 - 6 stroke max pulls . Each one i was only able to get the split to 1.30/1.32 ish. Not sure if there is any strengh exercise i can do to try to increase my pull. Think my cross tra...

Re: L4s, etc...the Wolverine(sque) Plan
I was at a dinner on Friday night and overindulged in the "grain" so I was little jaded yesterday and didn't row. I made up for it today with a SB for 10k by 3 minutes +++. Like the taper Bill, it clearly did the trick =D> =D> =D> ^O^ ^O^ ^O^ 50' L4 for me straight 180's, after yes...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
On the spot decision to try for one of my longer PB's the Hour
Set the splits at 6 mins and aimed to do at least 1500 in each split, giving me 15000m
Managed this and some and allthough very hard even pacing paid off - Even went through 10k in 38:58 a big PB
