Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

Exactly 78Kg. No gain, no loss. I guess that's OK - I've done nothing except the rowing as exercise; the rest of the time I've been stuck at a desk. Also I didn't drink enough. Water, I meant water!! I usually slurp loads of it and it is really good for helping with weight loss (why??) but this week...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

I've never measured myself with a tape or anything. I go by clothes size  . At the moment I'm a comfy UK size 14 (US 12, I believe). My biggest was size 24. Smallest in my adult memory is 12. I'd like to stay in the 14's but have them looser. They're not tight at all but I like baggy clothes. I...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

I am extremely lucky in that because I lost my pancreas I am diabetic. Now that sounds really odd but it's true. It's forced me into a wholly new way of life and eating. I don't know how I consumed the vast quantities of food I used to; I cannot think how it fitted in! I don't eat biscuits or cake, ...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

All I can say is that food diaries have helped me lose my weight - all 100 lbs/45.5 Kg of it so far, but we are all different :). I knew my journey was going to take years, not months or weeks, and so I have used every trick in the book to keep me on my path. I suspect food diaries work for me becau...

Re: Armstrong 'stripped' of Tour de France Titles and Banned

I have had a couple of goes with cancer, chemo and all that. In my 30's and 40's I was very keen on karate and trained several times a week (often six days a week) and did the gym to stay as fit as possible. It is my firm belief that now in my mid 50's and after all that bother in my early 50's I am...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

Good luck! Health is a terrific reason (it's mine, almost wholly) and you can do it! I took it at 5lbs at a time. No more because it was scary and daunting and I couldn't face it without saying I'd never, ever do it and what was the point even trying. But 5lbs? Yeah - I could do that in a month... T...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

It all started because I stopped exercising! I'd done karate and the gym for years and when i stopped, the weight just piled on. Mainly because I kept eating as if I was still training ... Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

This weekend has been a huge celebration for me. Back in 2005 I started thinking about dieting. I weighed 274 lbs (124.2 Kg). I am 5'8" tall. I lost a few kilos and then got poorly so things like that went on the backburner. Just under 3 years ago, with the encouragement of some good friends an...

Re: Physio Visit

They have a full set of exercise machines at the physio clinic - rowing machine, treadmills, exercise bikes, weights, swiss ball - all of it. So I had a go on their rowing machine (not a Concept) and she said I was fine. Then I had to sit on one of the not quite comfortable type chairs that are usua...

Physio Visit

Today I saw the physio at the hospital about my back and forearm pain. Amazingly neither is rowing related :D. The back pain (thoracic - spreading into left rhomboid muscle) is purely postural and caused by wrong posture when I work at the office (computer based) and use my netbook. I sit with my he...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

Well done! And better skinny than overweight. You'll live a lot longer, that's for sure. All the studies say the skinnies live longer...... I need to do something. I'm holding steady but not losing. My husband was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and has to lose weight and started low-carbing...

Re: falling from ergo seat

I've slipped off twice, both times during a FM and both times due to wriggling when my bottom was aching. I wriggled just a bit too much, lost my balance and fell to the floor like a whale crashing back into the water. First time I did it I hurt my coccyx which got caught on the edge of the seat as ...

Re: Rowlympics and PaRowlympics Challenges

I don't think I'll be first to get a gold - either Richard or Dwayne, I think . I have plans for my afternoon - really fascinating stuff like vacuuming . And as much as I'd rather climb on the erg I can't stand the crunching underfoot any more. And my legs are tired, whinge whinge.

Re: Rowlympics and PaRowlympics Challenges

Got a silver but tomorrow is my rest day, so gold will wait until Saturday (all being well). I have a new CD to put on my MP3 player so I can do that tomorrow and listen on saturday. Husband will hate it but he'll put up with it if it's on while I row. It's Mark Tremonti's new one; a tad heavy in pl...

I am so sorry to hear this. The chemo is very tiring but they have medicines that can counteract things like the nausea etc. so be sure and mention any problems and they can be helped, usually. I shall be thinking of you both; this is such a difficult thing to go through. The best advice we ever had...

First of the three sessions for the day was enormous fun! Glam Rock =D> Such a long time since I listened to some of those bands! Next session will be Pink Floyd because I don't want to wear ear buds for every single session and husband doesn't like heavy metal. So Floyd it is, with a little bit of ...

Re: Had a bad day? ......... Tell us about it

One of my clients lives in a very rural area and several times had fuel taken from his old tractor. He decided that the very best way to deal with it was to pour sugar into the tank and then just let them steal the fuel again. He said it was totally worth the damage to the tractor every time he thou...

My husband will do food and drink for me - he knows what suits me best. And I'm seeing the consultant diabetic specialist in the autumn for my normal appointment; she's extremely helpful about adjusting insulin to suit whatever you're doing. Aside from that I think what I need will become apparent d...

I'll be a while of increasing the numbers of sets ... if I fling myself into it all in one go I'll crash and burn, but stealth mode will fool me into not realising what I'm doing

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread

My husband made chocolate fudge brownies . He makes the best fudge brownies in the whole world. I used to take ginormous batches to the office and grown men would stampede to the kitchen to get them, and he went and made a large trayful for the house.....

I have disgraced myself ....
