Re: Name that tune

I think there was a song by The Who called Who Are You. Your hints would appear to be pointing in that direction although I can’t in all conscience say that I remember the song, other than the chorus. Thanks Paul, I was worried that I would have to repost my last clue with Capital Letters and addit...

Re: Name that tune

By now, I am not sure more lyrics will help, but here goes.

"I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said, 'You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away.'"

I imagine there is someone out there who knows who sang this song. If so, who are you?

Re: Name that tune

Thanks Ron. There have been no protests or video reviews, so I guess it is official.

I was unable to search for this, but I do not remember it being used. However, I may be wrong :^o, since I am

Re: Name that tune

Here is my problem: I immediately knew the next line is "But if you have a nickel won't you put your money down". Actually, it is "lay" not put", but, as Ron said, close enough. I thought the title was Down on the Bayou , but when I went to check, I found out I went down to ...

Re: Name that tune

Very quick, and very correct, Paul G. =D> I was worried that the song apparently did not chart in the UK or South Africa. However, our daughter visited us last week; the first time we have seen her in-person in a year and a half. Unfortunately, the song came to mind a few times. ](*,) #-o Choose a s...

Re: Name that tune

Thank you Paul.

I have been thinking about this song lately. When a hint is needed, it will explain why. :(

If they told you, you would cry"

Correct on both song and artist.

Re: Name that tune

Thanks Ron. I asked my daughter for a "more modern" song than I would know. She suggested this, which apparently was a number 1 in Ireland and the UK, and also big in the US. I don't know, since I never heard (or of) it. 8-[ She asked if I thought it was too easy; how would I know! ...

Re: Name that tune

Based on the two word hint, I said Closing Time.

Our daughter, here so we can see her in person for the first time in a year and a half, said "gather up your jackets, move into the exit, hope you found a friend".

Re: Name that tune

Hi Ron, no idea yet about your song.

But, in terms of beginnings and endings, how were the first 6 months of retirement?

Assuming you retired at age 55, (probably just to upset Plummy 8) ), you should add a year to your signature.

Re: Name that tune

Thanks Peter. Was that song you're quoting from by George Benson? Anyway, the full chorus goes along the following lines: So, rock me mama like a [name of song] Paul, we just heard the song I was thinking of on the radio, so I did not have to google it: Rock Me Gently by Andy Kim. The full chorus d...

Let me up the ante: I have never heard of Nathan Carter, Darius Rucker, Ketch Secor, or Old Crow Medicine Show! I have heard of Hootie & the Blowfish. As for “So rock me mama ...”, what comes to mind is "rock me slowly, for I have never been loved like this before, (baby, baby). I do not kn...

Re: Name that tune

I have been trying to think of a song that has not been used before. My first several have been used here before, sometimes by me, between 2014 and last month, and sometimes with the same lyrics. I thought of this unused one, which apparently was in the top 3 on the weekly charts in the US, UK, Irel...

Sorry Paul, I have never heard of them, or seen them during our travels. Hopefully, someday, we can look for them in Ireland.
