Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club

Congrats Wolfie and Paul. Much better than me, Paul. 25 million for me. And no, Dave no chance I would hit the mark. The row is the row.

Re: The Pete Plan

Thanks guys. It's driving me nuts. I tried doing intervals on my bike but the river valley near our house is no place to do it--going 35+kph on a shared use path is just plain dangerous. I apologise to the lady I nearly ran over if she happens to be reading this.. I suppose I could go out to ...

Re: The Pete Plan

Great pbs, Dan, you're getting into some fast times for those intermediate distances, that's for sure. I've decided to back off of training completely for a while. I was getting some pretty bad lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) on my right arm and even a bit of medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbo...

Re: The Pete Plan

Geez, that'll do, Dan. 8x500m for me today. Just wanted to get below 1:45 pace for all of them. I forgot just how tough these can be. The last 200m of each one was a struggle but I got through it. 1:44.9-r33 1:44.8-r33 1:44.8-r33 1:44.9-r34 1:44.7-r34 1:44.7-r34 1:44.8-r34 1:44.8-r34 It's been a lon...

Re: The Pete Plan

Today was supposed to be hard long distance day. I opted for the half hour again, hoping to match my pace from two weeks ago: 1:54.7. I have been a little short on sleep the last few nights and we babysat my grandson last night. He was great but woke up pretty early. Anyway after 6 minutes at 1:54.9...

Re: The Pete Plan

Nice 4x1500m, Felton, that last one at under 1:50 was a strong finish. When I start doing intervals I always feel good getting into the 1:40s--those are the big boy numbers unless you're an Olympian. I think the intervals have been getting me in better shape. On Tuesday I was commuting to work throu...

Re: The Pete Plan

That's weird that you attempted a 6k yesterday Paul cause I sat down to my Sunday long distance and decided I was sick of 30 minutes for the time being and 5k was too short so I came up with the 6k..great minds truly think alike. A review of last weekend's 30' showed 7844m/1:54.7/r27-28 so I figured...

Re: The Pete Plan

Sander, I don't know if Pete prescribes business trips but I imagine your company/employer does so I can see how that and of course rowing on the water, real rowing, would always take precedence over erg training. Dan, good to see you're still going hard, that was an impressive session, 750s hoverin...

Re: The Pete Plan

This thread is dying. Is it the nice weather outside this time of year? People are just done with the Plan of Peter? Or maybe as I kind of suspect most people are using Facebook, blogs or some other social medium rather than an old fashioned forum/website to record their mighty efforts? Anyway, six ...

Re: Comparison of Indoor Rowing and Running pace vs Distance

I personally had the opposite happen. I was kind of a large runner at 160 lbs and now I'm a small rower. When I was in my thirties, I used to run a lot and even did some speed training. It took me a lot of hard work just to break 40 minutes for 10k when the lead guys were doing low 30's. Ima...

Maybe I have a bit too much time on my hands, I'm still not back to full duties at work...I looked at this vid again, wondering what the stroke rate was for the top competitors. I looked at a one minute portion of the video from 4:00-5:00, so late in the race, but before everyone started the despera...

Re: Video Analysis Thread (post em here!)

John, thanks for the observations, and I think you're dead on re the stiffness. Hard to say how much of that is injury related and how much is just my tense self. My physiotherapist says I'm still very protective of that knee even 3 months post injury. I will do another video in a few months at a hi...

Re: Race Meeting Advice (For Newbies and Old Hands Alike)

I don't think I have much to add here cause Greg's posts were comprehensive. The title brought me here. I thought the thread was going to be advice on how to meet people at races. I am pretty shy and socially awkward so I would have found that kind of useful. I guess I'll just keep sitting in the st...

Thanks, John, I was kinda hoping someone would fix it for me. :D you can do more with your iPhone in Boston than I can do with my iPad at home. #-o Boris, I pretty much agree with everything you said. Good luck, John, congrats on making lwt. Don't be nervous it's just a game really. Stay a little conservative at the beginning maybe 1:40-41 and then wind it up as you go, it'll be over before you know it.

Re: Video Analysis Thread (post em here!)

Just looked at the videos of Greg and Boris. Greg, you're not fat! Your stroke does look a little better in the "improved" video but there's not much wrong with it that I can see. The over-compression some have mentioned is very slight if there at all. Low rate there is a pause at the fini...

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty

Thanks for the well wishes Greg, Dan, Rodger and Paul. Gave it another go today and got a modest improvement at r21. 4715m. Just bumped Iain by a few metres but we're both still floated. Tomorrow's a new month and a new ctc. I don't know if I can or will do any sprinting that soon but there's no rul...

Tried a twenty minute piece today and was surprised to see it was this month's ctc. I was also shocked to see we have a lightweight who is faster than any of our heavyweights. FS1 should be a lot more competitive now. Anyway, I tried to flatten out my r knee as much as possible at the finish...

Have fun, John. That is a very large and fast field all right but you're definitely not slow yourself, just try to stick to your pacing plan and your placement in the race will take care of itself.

Re: Injuries.....:(

Thanks for inquiring about my health, Boris. Not too much for an update but I will be having the surgery next Wednesday. I will be a medial meniscus lighter and hopefully my knee will then be able to fully extend. The recovery period is usually 6 weeks or so. I opted not to have ACL reconstruction a...
