Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread

Well I have been away a long time, but still see one or two familiar names on the board. Unfortunately for the last couple of years of work and then since retirement - 5 years now - I have been drifting back up again. A need to change BP medication and lockdown drove me back to the rower together wi...

Re: WELCOME to New Members

Well a returning member. Must be seven or eight years since I last posted. The Concept 2 has been collecting dust in the garage for some years as I had problems witt both knees. Have decided to return to the fold and try strengthening the knees and then seeing how close I can come to the workouts in...

Re: 2014 weight loss thread

Well after about three years away and intermittent erging as the machine moved all over the house whilst alterations and decorations took place - I'm back. And I need to be as well. Drifted back up to 22 stone, passed 65 and the knees began to complain about the load. Sure I damaged ligaments, which...

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread

Well, I really am going to try and repeat the success of 5 years ago. For various reasons of house alterations etc, I have hardly been on the machine this year - and now find myself back to 21-10.   Did I really get down to 17-8 in 1996. Currently need new suit, and wife won't ket...

Re: NEW SEASON WEIGHTLOSS CLUB

Where have I been ? Well its last exam tomorrow and then back to it. Definitely in need of workouts now. Had to run for a train in Birmingham last week, and thought I was going to die !  All that good work of two years ago has gone - so its 'the long and winding road' back to fitness ag...

Heart rate monitor problems

Bought my C2 about three and a half years ago. I remember reading that people thought the heart rate monitor was pretty weak. I am having trouble getting a consistent pickup. Anyone else experience or recommend a replacement which gives better performance

Re: Getting it back (quietly)

Still all the old friends here !! I am slowly getting things back together again - clocking up the aerobic metres to get the weight moving again, which I am going to keep going til the end of the year - then its a 16 week build up to May 1st and the big "six oh" and my ambition to start th...

Re: Padraig Harrington

Apart from being a natural spectator course, with the holes running between the dunes, Birkdale is a beautiful course to play. Played it as a 14 year old in 1963 - affordable then ! - long irons into the green 'held' as if they were wet, but putting was lightning fast. As for PH, I agree that shor i...

Re: Getting it back (quietly)

The long haul is getting into gear !! About 60k in the last week, all at about 70% and 24 SPM. Managed to progress through some French language tapes in order to enjoy holiday communication at the same time. Time to stop being lazy as multi-lingual Mrs RFB always does all the talking on holiday. All...

Re: Weekly Weigh In

Well after a long absence, I have suddenly begun to get my act together again. 60k this week seems to have managed to remove about 2.5 Kg. I knew once I managed to get some consistent rowing going, I would start to reverse the damage of the past twelve months, but still a long way to go. And holiday...

Well, after the hay fever has subsided, its time to get back quietly, but have to admit - currently my performance is s**t :( Need all your encouragement - am keeping all the times below as a reminder of what once was !! Keep kicking me in the a**e and I may begin to recover some of the former glori...

Hi Graham Well I have avoided even signing on to the web-site for ages. Circumstances for me have militated against any bums on seats for me since Xmas - I won't bore you all with that - I didn't even recognize the forum layout - Thomas are you guilty ???? But I got my Consept2 newsletter through wi...

First week's results

Well Here's this morning's first weigh in - for the sake of accuracy, I recalculated last week's figure so a mere 1.4 Kg (3 lbs in 'old money'). :( I won't be satisfied until I see the same sort of loss for three weeks in a row, then I might feel I am beginning to progress again. Still the pressure ...

I'm in too!!

Paul and I seem to have had similar experiences. I was foolhardy enough to publish a before and after picture a few months ago. I started at 140 Kg Early in 2005 and got down to 112 Kg in mid 2006. I seemed to stabilise at about 115 Kg for months, then got a virus at the beginning of this year and t...

The Bottomless Pit

When I said Paul V. and I were going backwards, I meant 'weight' - but dropping from FS boat 3 to FS boat 4 is like being in a lift (elevator for the cousins) when the cable bust. Boy was that a drop - Paul, let's see if we can do the same with the pounds. :D RFB PS Thanks for noticing Wolfie! Good ...

You and me too !!

I'm really going backwards right now. Weight back up to 108 KG and my first attempt at this month's CTC was over 20 seconds slower than my SB for 5k and well over a minute slower than my 5k PB. :x And this was after three days rest/break. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I need to do s...
