Re: August CTC -100m/200m/300m/400m/500m/400m/300m/200m/100m with 1 minute rest

Woke up with a bit of a thick head this morning and figured this was the ideal way to blow away some cobwebs  Took the first two as a bit of "free pass" and just rated high and fast before settling in with a plan to stay under 1:40 for the remainder. Toughest intervals were the seco...

Re: July CTC - 5k/2k 7min rest, 1 at 20SPM

Some great performances already this month - well done to all =D> =D> I'm enjoying the debate on which way to approach this one - for me I can't imagine doing a good 5k after a low rate 2k  So, I had a go last night and somewhat overcooked the 5k from the start - going in at sub 1:50 pace and...

Re: June ctc - 3 miles / 3‘r / 2 miles / 2‘r / 1 mile, first rep standing start

Nice one Jon =D> After a few half-hearted rows that ended almost as soon as they began, I figured that this one would be a good session to get me working to the end. As usual, not sure about current form so figured somewhere around 8k/30' pace would be a reasonably hard - turns out that I pretty wel...

Re: May ctc - 200 seconds, standing start

Well done all for the attempts on this short but quite nasty piece! =D> I have to agree to agree with Erik's thoughts on this one. On face value, this is a simple timed piece, but the fact that the CTC website cannot correctly calculate the displayed pace leads me to believe that they should limit t...

And big Congrats with the sub 40' 10k run, Mat! Are you still doing Triathlon? Thanks Erik  I haven't done any triathlons for a few years - I found that I just didn't have time to put in enough hours on a bike (and at my weight I needed to get much better on the bike so as to avoid losing ...

Re: April ctc - 10‘r20 - 5‘r - 10‘r20, the slower one to count

Well done to all that have tried it already =D> =D> I've always hated the low stroke rate stuff, especially when I was erging regularly and my usual stroke rate was close to 30. It felt extremely artificial to slow down, no matter how many people told me that it was good for me! Fortunately I now ra...

Re: March CTC - 6k

Well done all on some great results   I put in a couple of place markers early this month and was "looking forward" to a proper hard go as the month went on. Unfortunately, I must have started 3-4 early morning rowing sessions by putting in 6k and then baling out after an...

Re: March CTC - 6k

Just kicked off the month with steady 6k to get a time on the board

6k - 22:32.2, 1:52.6, 24

I'm sure there'll be a bit more sweat to come later in the month but its nice to get a score posted

Good luck to all

Re: February ctc - 3x2k, 5‘r, no restrictions

Tough challenge this month - 3 x 2k will always be hard, but the 5' gives plenty of time for recovery so the chance to push a little harder... if you dare! I had a go earlier in the month and had intended to do this a few times as its a useful training piece. But of course as usual I did too much ru...

Great improvement Fred =D> =D> I hope the back heals up quickly I finally plucked up the courage to try this one today though even before starting I was wondering when would be a reasonable point to bale out? As it was, I think I paced it just right because the pain didn't really kick in until halfw...

Some great rows so far in what looks like a real challenge - both mentally and physically  =D> =D> Eye watering performance (as ever) by Claudius ^O^ ^O^ After taking most of last month off the erg, I'm currently trying to get a bit of erg fitness back before tackling this one... can't say I'...

Thanks for kicking this one off Jainser - great start [emoji106] I decided to have a go tonight (it was that or running and it was very wet and windy outside!) It’s been a long time since I’ve tried anything around the 1:40 pace so this was a bit of a shock to the system. I really didn’t like it! St...

Mat talk like that is dangerous 🤣🤣🤣 I have been bitting my knuckles all week 😱🤣🤣 Thanks for the nudge Kevin - figured I'd best step up to the plate. Decided that the only way to do this would be to commit from the start knowing that I'd either get through it (painfully) or crash and burn horribly. ...

Well done all for some great rowing on this month's challenge... you've got to love to hate the 30' Not quite the on-the-line-all-the-way that is the 5k, but long enough to have to worry about holding some back to get through it and at the same time worrying that if you don't put the work in...
