Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Nice one Colin. As someone who used to avoid low rate as much as possible, I can now get with you one the “these could be quite enjoyable” view The wheels may have been wobbling Soider, but that looks like a really strong performance ^O^ Enjoy Iceland Tough session for me today 1/2/3/4/3/2/1 at 2k p...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks folks I’m not sure about the HR bands Iain. I’ve not set them up in Ergzone and tend to go on feel these days, though I find it useful to see HR when comparing similar sessions (and to watch out for the risk of an AF episode!) Very happy with this session - all targets met. Felt on the right ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Some great sessions here! Ian - those longer rows split into faster / slower sections are always hard, but really valuable. Great execution =D> Iain - 2 hours on the rower is at least an hour more that I could face at the moment ^O^ Good work on the sprints too Nice 20' pieces Spider 8) ZRL race on ...

But of a slog this morning with a 40”R18, but managed to get through it with the help of the “Fighting Talk” podcast

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Nice low rate sessions from Ian and Spider - sometimes its just what the doctor ordered 8) 24 @ 24 for me this morning. Started at a comfortable pace and just negative split the piece . Quite a nice balance to be honest - faster than low rate but with a restriction to stop you getting too daft! IMG_...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Nice rowing on here folks  Whilst you may have baled on the hour Iain, its impressive that you were so close to SB pace for the 30' whilst planning the full hour - nice Glad you could fit in some erging between your breaks Spider  Nice going Really good improvement from September's per...

Re: April CTC - The Baker's Dozen

Nice performances to start off the month Colin and Phillip =D> =D> I was going to leave this until the end of the month after a bit of consistent training but thought I’d give it a go as a marker. If I feel brave, I may try again near the end, but as Colin suggests, this was not a pleasant experienc...

Morning all  Great training, consistent as ever from Ian and Iain, A nice SB from Rob and a nasty looking injury from Quokka - hope you’re back on the Erg soon Figured I’d try to hold myself accountable to some more consistent training by posting again. I’ve been doing much more cycling on ...

Well done all on this one, and especially to Ray for nailing that sub 7 =D> =D> It’s been a long time since I did a 2k in anger, and last night I actually looked up the you tube video for the last time I did… BIRC 2012! Re: February CTC: Sprint Sandwich

Health update on Liefcat: One month ago I got down to 96kg, two months ago I was at 115... Then 4 weeks ago I got TPN, and now I´m stabilized around 103kg. This Saturday I got the second gall stone operation - a big one had blocked the liver. And it was succesful, so now I should be able to do some...

Re: January ctc - 6x250m / 1‘r / 20spm / slowest to count

Well done to Tako and Jon =D> and fingers crossed to Colin 🤞 Thought I’d take an early shot at this to learn a few lessons: The first should be the slowest due to the standing start, so I pushed hard on that one. On my second I tried to game the start with a hard stroke at 1” to go. That messed up m...

Re: January ctc - 6x250m / 1‘r / 20spm / slowest to count

What's the system people use to do this -- smooth fluid even slow pulls that take 3 seconds end to end? Or a blazingly fast stroke and then just sit for 2.x seconds in a little micro pause? For what it’s worth, I find tend to use a strong, powerful drive (not slow, but not as fast as a “normal” rat...

Re: January ctc - 6x250m / 1‘r / 20spm / slowest to count

There is all kinds of discussion and general grumpiness about this on the C2 Forum thread. I just had a read and as you say, there a lot of disquiet about this which is definitely not in the Christmas spirit! Let’s be honest, and leaving aside the concerns over back health, we all know what the cha...

Re: December ctc - 2963m / 5‘r / 2185m

Thanks all. It was a bit of a shock, but originally because I didn’t know what it was - not only the high HR that refused to go down, but actually being able to feel the heart beating erratically in the chest. There’s no clear indication of what caused it, and I have been advised that it could well ...

Well done for all the PBs and SBs already this month =D> =D>

Took a shot at a free rate 10k this morning for the first time in a very long time - happy with the result.
There may be more in the tank but only if I can have another go before going on hol next weekend!

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Apologies for the lack of posts… I’ve been paddling along mixing the rowing with (indoor) cycling and moving some weights around, but have had a bit of a slump recently where everything feels harder than it should! Re: November ctc - a simple 10k!

Nice one Tako =D> =D> I had a 30’R20 scheduled today and decided to lengthen it a little with a 10kR20 to get a score on the board whilst I gird my loins for a free-rate effort later in the month. My HR monitor is playing up too… reading 230+ or 0 yesterday so I left it off this morning IMG_8519.jpeg

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

You’re really packing some hours of training in Claudius ^O^ ^O^

For me, a hard ZRL race on the Wattbike yesterday and then a deceptively tough session this morning. 3x (4/2/4) with the 4’s at R20 and the 2’s at high rate. The second 4’ was hard work in each of the intervals!
