Re: HRM Quandry - suggestions appreciated

Jonathan, I'd also suggest trying Suunto first. They certainly have an excellent after sales service. If you need a replacement, then I'd go for the Garmin Forerunner 610. This will also do HRV analysis via FirstBeat Athlete, if you've got that. It also has built in GPS making it great for the bike ...

Re: Rowing strapless

I think that, providing your technique is ok, the straps offer little except whilst "sprinting". All of my PB's from 5k upwards were set strapless, although I accept that I tend to rate lower than average (the 5k was r26 and the 10k r24, I think). With a high rating and a powerful leg driv...

Re: February CTC - 30 minutes

The last 10 minutes was a case of much pain, passing 6Km in a new PB of 23:16.7 and then trying to stay ahead of the super optimistic pace boat. Final result 7712m for a 155m improvement on my previous effort. I'm not sure I want to do 30 minutes again for a very long time! That sounds about right ...

Re: The Thread Formerly Known as Training towards a 6:20 2k

On the crises thread I just read that our great founder, Doc, suggests to kill his own darling - but as it is I´m quite happy here. On the other hand, training for a 2k race in less than 4 weeks a more realistic title for that one would be: "Hoping for a sub 6:30, best case scenario... :...

Re: iConnectConcept2

I bought one to give it a go. Personally, I don't find it much use, but it has great potential. The data like stroke count, stroke length and average power in real time etc are quite useful and I like the ability to upload a workout to the on-line logbook without the need to transfer a log card to a...

Re: The KIM (Keep It Moving) Training Thread

I'm at a loss for a workout plan. Should I do 30" for the cross team challenge? I'm not really sure how this works... Yes please....... But do 30' and not 30'' :fswink: I'd echo Wolfie's suggestion if you row at home. RP is great. As for a plan, it really depends on what your goals are. If you...

Ok, my first CTC for............well, a long, long time
To start things off, I took 30' from yesterday's 10k to give 7,888m.
I wonder if I'll better 8k. Pretty sure that it wouldn't be an 8k 30r20 these days

Re: English IRC 2013 - 27th Jan 2013

I have always thought Lewin's account an extremely eloquent and accurate description of a 2k TT! I would advise all racing to take good heed of the reference to Chris Hoy's "mental chimp" [(C) Dr Steve Peters]. Before you start this "race" you absolutely have to know what time yo...

I've used that in the past when changing laptops. Anyway, according to FBA tech support, the best way to backup your Firstbeat data is to go to e...
