Re: September ctc - 5k, standing start, unrestricted

Sub 19, so very quickly, is excellent Pete! No erging for me the past 2 weeks because of a bad back (no exercise at all except a couple of short walks this week). So a gentle return yesterday. Turned the df down to 100 and set off expecting to ave somewhere between 2:05 and 2:10 Damn and blast those...

Re: Mind, body and soul - a musical journey

Nice one Graham.
I'll start with some mainstream choices ...
Mind - Wish You Were Here / Pink Floyd
Body - Thunderstruck / ACDC
Soul - Oye Como Va / Santana

Re: September ctc - 5k, standing start, unrestricted

My interval 5ks were today 😱🙈 18:53.1 @ 1:53.3 was the quickest So that's a marker for Wolfie 👍 plan is to try another one at the end of the month 🤢 Good luck everyone 💪 Kevin, I'm flattered you consider it a "marker" for me #-o Actually, would be a good target if I'd not put my back out on Tuesday...

Re: The Pete Plan

Welcome Colin. Hope you are not missing Shirley / Solihull :D :D Iain , question for you please ... as I approach half way through the 5k plan, do you know if the training pieces will give a decent predictive 5k pace? Completed the 8x750/1r today in 1:50.4 (slowly, slowly bringing he split down) but...

Re: The Pete Plan

I'm struggling to follow all your 'non PP' sessions :-) :-) Well done for knocking something out though!! week 4 - session 2 4x1550/4r (week 1 4x1500/4r = 1:51.4. BUT, week 3 4x1800 = 1:50.7, so I had to beat that) 1:50.7 / 27 1:50.5 / 27 1:50.4 / 27 1:49.6 / 27 nice strong finish ave 1:50.3 Just fi...

Re: The long road back

Great to 'see' you again Graham, good luck with the quest. Having trained for and completed a marathon in May, I'd say you have the correct approach. Just do lots of long, slow, steady rows (in front of the tv maybe?) and gently increase the time in the seat. Regarding padding, I tried a folded towe...

Re: August ctc : 2020 in pieces - 4 x 505m with 2 minutes rest, and take the time of your slowest 505m interval

Wonderful to see the new peeps mixing with some "old" names :-8 Managed to finally fit this in between PP sessions (12x500/1r yesterday, so a few more wouldn't hurt) Had a rare "try or die" attitude to this one and went to beat Jolo who has set the best HW time. Target pace 1:41.3 or under 1 - 1:41....

Re: The Pete Plan

Nice set Iain, looks like there is room for another go :D Spider, are you really on a PP? :-) Good work there :-) First DNF for me at the weekend, tried the 3x2k/3r after a busy few days and only manage 2d @ 1:51.0 did a 5k warm down to compensate a little. They say one should listen to one's body! ...

Re: The Pete Plan

I like the way you mix up the sessions, stops it from being mundane. Unlike myself, sticking to the 5k plan. 4x1800/4r today's middle session. Last week's 4x1650 was 1:50.8, so that was the target. 1 - 1:50.9 2 - 1:50.8 3 - 1:50.6 4 - 1:50.5 ave 1:50.7 Working hard whilst still holding just a little...

Re: The Pete Plan

Well done for keeping going during the heat chaps, I was a little worried about the 6x1k last night, but it had dropped to a mere 28 :-) 1 - 1:51.0 /26 2 - 1:51.0 /26 3 - 1:51.0 /26 4 - 1:51.0 /26 5 - 1:50.9 /26 this is where I thought I'd get to and have to stop 6 - 1:49.3 /27 made it through. Very...
