Re: October ctc - 666 meters

Well done Lesley, easily sub 2:00/500 =D>

My mate James has had a go, and he targeted sub 2:00 from the off.
We knew it would be hard, but possible.
result = 1:58.7 / 1:29.1 / 36
Pacing not too bad
200 - 1:27.1
400 - 1:30.0
600 - 1:29.2
666 - 1:30.1

Re: Name that tune

Wolfie, I don't know that tune, so I have to say "No" though it may have similar lyrics to the song I'm posting... :) The great Aretha Franklin ... official title is "I say a little prayer" and now I've looked it up, the words I was thinking of are " The moment I wake up / Before I put on m...

Re: October ctc - 666 meters

You've gained a lot of fitness over the last let's say year? Yes, thankfully! A few years of being idle, then discovering a local OTW club has helped to move back in the right direction. Apart from the now regular exercise again, we have a weekly team erg session too. I'm hoping for more of course....

Re: October ctc - 666 meters

Agree Peter, faster next time  Nice one ladies, looking forward to your next goes. Common theme, put a score in after another work out... easy/steady 10k today (42 min), then a pop at this. Was surprised at Tako's score, as I thought I could do ~1:37.5. He must have been quite gentle. Anyway, f...

 Gave in on the this CTC. I’m not in shape for this kinds of row yet. My best 2000m is in pace 1:50 so far, so my time would be rubbish anyway on the rerow of the last 1800m. We don't worry about times (well, it's not the absolute be all and end all  ), we just like filling seats....

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020

Hi, I'm in (seem to have selected the correct team, and can also see Plummy :-) )
A few months ago I'd have been delighted with 1159m, but the fact I'm a bit disappointed is a good sign.

Re: September ctc - 1800m / 3'r / 1200m / 3'r / 1800m

Well done all. A late one for me for a change. Still a few days though Max :-) I had a target of sub 1:50, with a possible 1:49 as top goal. 1800 - 1:49.2/28 cruised at <1:50 which felt hard 1200 - 1:49.2/28 cruised again, but felt much better 1800 - 1:50.3/28 set off with first 800 in mind, then fi...

Re: Name that tune

If it is 'Africa' (and it mus be, as their only really big hit in the UK. They also had 'Hold the line', but that was a minor hit), then it's amazing how for such a big song I/we can't place the lyric.

Re: Name that tune

He did sing "Don't Cry for me Argentina" in Evita, which sort of fits the lyric Dave has posted (I can think of "of what a circus, oh what a show ...")?
I love these clue ones

Don't think so Jill, wasn't Evita a bit later?
Can't think of another musical he was in though, unless he was in Chess? But even that's not 70s I don't think.
