Good you're taking it carefully Zoot. No need to aggravate issues.

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
That's excellent, Juergie. Almost halfway.
No work today so I did #s 4 and 5 with a lunch break in between. First went fine at 1h40 @ 2:22 pace but the second was rough and came in at 1h52 @ 2:39 pace. A few tender spots on my hands that want to become blisters, and definitely felt the sitting bones, but otherwise, slow pacing meant it was more about enduring the time involved.
Congrats to Peggy who has knocked out lots more than that with no audible complaints!

Thanks, Barbara! Two HMs in one day, now THAT’S Crazy!!
I'm up to HM#9 today, watching Season 2 of 'Defiance' (the Syfy series), and I've got three new kittens sitting in the sunshine keeping me company for my rows. It’s all good!

#9 for me too today. Done on offline rowpro and shuffled my erg over a foot to straighten my view on the monitor as I've developed a bad habit of staring to the left even when the monitor isn't on. Second fastest CB HM time with 1:28:36.4

Stuck at 7, doubt I will do that many more, because the 2k season is threatening...

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
Alan -- great progress! Keep it up! =D>
Juergie -- 4-in-a-row under 90 min! Very nice.
Barbara -- 2 HM separated by lunch? Wow.
Dave -- another one in the bag Well done!
=======================
First HM since May!
1:38:18.2 -- 2:19.7 -- AHR 135 -- DF=120
Felt pretty good: no crises. Heart rate was manageable. Elbow is tender, but not sore.
The only really frustrating thing is that I looked up my SB pace (2:20) and used it as a target... only to discover afterwards that I had rounded it off and it was actually 2:19.7 (1:38:15.0). So today's attempt missed my SB by 3.2 seconds.
On the positive side, today's heart rate averaged 7 bpm lower than my May attempt, with essentially the same pace! So, overall, I'm content.

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
Good going Zoot. Nice that it was relatively painless!
FM today, my second ever. Finished in 3:27:37.8. Started in the dark at 6 am. After the row and a long hot shower, was back in bed by 10 am. Only hung out for an hour and then Jack and I went to lunch & wandering in Ojai.
Although slower than last December by 5 minutes, this marathon felt better than last year's. Not inclined to speed up these distance pieces -- and not sure how many more I'll do.
Congrats to all for just one, or many.

Yes, but not in ways that I would expect. I feel more limber and better able to recover. But mostly, without a big pot belly, I find that I can keep my knees closer together and use my quads to push harder during the drive.strider77 wrote:Nice HM Zoot =D> You are doing really well-does the weight loss help do you find ?

Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
This weekend I was in DK for a Christmas dinner with great friends from my time in Aalborg! Great fun!
The hotel had three C2 erg and as I had my chip card with me I chose one of the two grey model E with PM4 over the newer black beauty with PM5. Turned out that the chain wasn't very good, no wonder as the erg had >68mm lifetime meters
While I on Saturday had to stop after 14.000 to make the party, I finished my HM #5 on Sunday morning. Needless to say it was a slow and hard one.
Tonight I wanted to take it easy in the regular 30min RowPro by Pam. With great audience I even finally managed to crack the 8k with a new PB (8022m 1:52.1).
So now I'm pretty happy and satisfied!
Good mileage for the holiday challenge and only 35622m left to my first ever million!
So really feeling like a crazy bear

Well done on the 30 min PB Tako =D>
This long stuff is killing me, had 2 days off as very busy at work.
Managed #12 this morning at 6 am not many in the gym as it was sub zero outside
1:32:10.1-2:11.0-25-using DF135
I think that I might cut back a bit on these a bit now

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
#12 done this evening after work. Took this one down to 22spm to see how it felt...it felt slow! That said, it was only 3:30 slower than my fastest one so not a disaster. Heart rate average was 140BPM.
I struggled tonight at 22spm to feel controlled/comfortable with my wonky leg drive so I think I'll stick with 24~26 in future.

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
Up to #14 as of yesterday - #15 tomorrow hopefully. As I targeted 20 and I have 19 days left to do those 6 I might squeeze another couple in. Also, I do intend to try and make one of them into a FM for the Nonathlon points as I've not done one yet.
I was going for "as steady as I could manage without any stress and trying to "enjoy" it" - I'm impressed with my heartrate control for the same pace.

Nicely done Dave-you have jumped ahead of me, might fit one more in this week and a second one Sunday.
Will look to do one day as a marathon as you are as have not done one for a few years.

Did #19 today. Still keeping under 90min on a regular basis. And a new season's best for me at 1:27:38,9. Really, really pleased.
@plummy: Nice one with an impressively low heartrate!
@strider: FM? Haven't dared that yet. Good luck!

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge-Row 30 HMs in 45 days
Well done Juergie - #19 is a good number at this stage.
I got to #16 by doing a FM this afternoon. Had real sore hand/fingers issues and struggled for about 25km with them (even those my heartrate and spm were under control). Had to change gloves once, 3 x drinks stops and a real time loser was having to go and change 1 x trainer as my left one really started rubbing badly. My spares were in another room!
3:10:55.0 - not very spectacular but without all the kit changes and better finger protection it might have been nearer 3:07 ish.
