Last 8 games of the season for us.

16 points clear of the team just below the play off zone so feeling confident of at least getting a play off place.

However all Saints fans know that snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is something we do a lot and I'm even tempting fate by posting here.

I am disgusted to see Tevez back for Man City. All respect I had for their management and owners has gone. They have caved in because they need to win a few football games when the player has shown token remorse and, unless I've missed it, no apology ot the fans. I would have put him in the reserves and left him to spend the best days of his career trekking over Cheshire.

I hear what you are saying Graham and in an ideal world he would spend the rest of his career rotting in the reserves. However there is no club on earth that would not have done exactly the same thing in Man Citys place - The club needs to get rid of him and get a reasonable market price for him, so he need to be seen playing and playing well. Winning the premiership and qualifying for the champions league is worth an absolute fortune and thats why football clubs are in business - if the club feels Tevez will help them achieve this then they will let him play. Agree its not ideal but thats football for you these days

OK. I've now decided I hate the referee even more than I hate Drogba! For crying out loud! That has to be the worst referring decision since Maradona's hand of god.

You said it Graham

I am getting seriously worried, we definitely need the 3 points at Peterborough this week or else  and hope that Bristol City can do us a big favour against West Ham

Paul V-trust me getting to 60 only makes it worse

Really pleased for you boys.

I went to Southampton University and so was a reasonably regular visitor to St Marys for the love of football. (Although did nearly get beaten up for cheering Man City against them in the Northam Stand. Trevor Francis was playing for City.)

Southampaton are a worthy team in the Prem. Hope you do a Swansea (or even better  )

Thanks Stan and Scoop-how are you Laurence-long time no hear ? :D

I am sure Graham was there, I am one of those ManUntd type fans who supports the Saints from the comfort of my front room, I did manage to see several games a few seasons back but Graham is the real fan :D

My sister was there on Saturday to represent the family, even saw her on the box thanks to the TV cameras

Should be an interesting year as long a we can get a few players in, we have a cadre of quality playes but not enough yet.

I was there guys.

Great occassion is somewhat spoilt for me by getting several work e-mails.

Probably 4 to 6 squad players short of a decent squad but no debt and TV money to come in so hoping for some decent signings.

Can it really be that simple? :?: Harry no longer distracted by the England job and Tottenham start winning again? Hope it lasts for the next two games and either Arsenal drop some points or Chelsea lose the Champions League final. [-o<

They certainly left it late. Lots of distraught United fans wandering around Alvor at present.

And what in the name of everything was that West Brom keeper doing today? I hope he's not playing for Bayern Munich next Saturday.

Stan

Very pleased for you and City
Thought you had blown it a few weeks ago and indeed with 10 minutes to go
Now the difficult choice: Bayern or Chelsea
I have to say I want to see Spurs in the Champions League otherwise a great squad will break up
Cheers

We've waited a while for it Stan. I watched it at my Dad's neighbours house and it was tense - not entirely sure that I'll ever be invited back again

I'm still trying to find a gracious United fan. Apparently if you win the PL on goal difference then it 'Doesn't count' :?: :?:

Congrats Stan and any other closet MC fans.

The Barton thing was pretty disgraceful but I ask myself the following:
1. Why did the linesman see Barton throw an elbow from 40 yards away but not Tevez taking a lump out out of Barton's leg?
2. Why did Balotelli have to come onto the pitch and scream in Barton's face?
3. Did Barton get sent off deliberately to help out his old club?

I reckon minimum 6 games, perhaps 9 to 10.

Valid questions Graham. I did actually wonder if Barton should be presented with a winners medal given that if he hadnt done what he did, then the 5 extra minutes would not have been awarded  In the end though his conduct was disgraceful and I would have thought a 12 game ban at least.
Scoop, there were 2 Man U fans work who did congratulate us while muttering about wait til next season  I chose not to gloat too much, probably because I had been driving them nuts all last week - boy was I relieved that the premature gloating was not thrown back in my face. Lesson learned, and mouth firmly shut next time.

These are my theories Graham.

1. Why did the linesman see Barton throw an elbow from 40 yards away but not Tevez taking a lump out out of Barton's leg?
I wondered exactly the same thing. Not sure why.

2. Why did Balotelli have to come onto the pitch and scream in Barton's face?
Because that's what he does. He's as volatile as Barton, if not more so.

3. Did Barton get sent off deliberately to help out his old club?
This I would find hard to believe. City effectively sacked Barton after a number of incidents (notably stubbing a cigar out on the face of a City apprentice player). I don't think City fans hold any affection for Barton and I don't think Barton holds much for City.

The sending off did help us because without the seconds (minutes) it wasted we wouldn't have had the 5 added minutes to produce the FOOTBALL GAME OF THE CENTURY :D But QPR to a man defended like lions right up until the two final goals, and I have to confess that with their whole team behind the ball I was at a loss to see where Barton was missing.

There have been a lot of unfair decisions in the PL this year, not least Walters goal for Stoke yesterday, headed out of Bogdan's hands which effectively relegated Bolton instead of QPR. City have had their share of luck, good and bad throughout the season and as a fan I feel that we have won fair and square and not in an underhand way (and I'm not implying that you were saying that we had  )

Best way to deal with Barton, and Balotelli too for that matter, is to put them on the pitch for 10 minutes of a Guinness Premiership rugby match, and then they can find out if they are as tough as they think they are :) :) .

I'm not a Chelsea fan and did not like the way that they won that competition but they did stick to it, so fair enough.

What I did think was unacceptable is the sight of Terry and the other suspended players on the pitch at the end in their kit.

As a piece of corporate PR this is a disaster and is effectively Chelsea putting two fingers up at UEFA and showing that they just don't care.

As a Spurs fan, I'm totally gutted! It was a chance to move up a notch and I think it's probably now gone for good. Too much money in the other clubs and no way to compete.

Ah well, it was nice while it lasted....
