By George, I think she's got it!

It was going round and round in my head too. Lots of versions - the most recent by Michael Bublé and Susan Boyle, IIRC.

Jill - you are correct. Mrs P was listening to the Mickey Bubbles version downstairs when I was trying to think of a new song to put up.

Thank you Plummy, heard of him but until about five minutes ago, none of his music.

The song was written originally for Ella Fitzgerald and that’s the version I sometimes listen to - discovered it on one of my exploratory journeys around YouTube.

Here’s a little number that I also discovered on one of those trips, it’s more recent than my usual offerings.

Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof.

In this context, it stands for "if I recall correctly". Of course, it can also stand for Irish Indoor Rowing Championship.

And I had the 80's version by Mari Wilson (she of the beehive) in my head. Amazing thing music :D

Agree Steve - that's a thumbs up then for Ella Fitzgerald, Mickey Bubbles and Mari Wilson ( just YouTubed her live performance on The Old Grey whistle Test ). Whispering Bob Harris was long gone from the show by then.

Mari Wilson's beehive was a monument, in more ways than one, to the dark arts of backcombing. 8)
