I have let the side down badly only had time to do an hour rate capped on Wednesday so no HM and stuff going on yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Managed a " bitsa" workout at 7 am but sadly no HM on the horizon until next weekend now-is that too late when does the Challenge end ?

The challenge ends on December 24th. Plenty of time for a few more Alan.

I'm out at the moment too as I have a dose of Man-flu to deal with.

#14 done late(ish) last night and #15 earlier today at a reasonable 2:21.7 pace. Yay.

Glad to have #13 in the rear view mirror. PBed on #11 Thurs, rowed #12 easy online Friday with Joe K, rowed on the water both Sat & Sun, plus had a 15:00 club time trial on the erg Sunday a.m., rate restricted at a 22. Lower back felt that one, and I PBed at 2:02 pace. By the time I got to HM #13 Sunday night I was well overcooked. Took unplanned rest Monday and put off yesterday (tues) as late as possible. It was enough of a break to get me through these last two HMs and halfway through the challenge. Cool!

Still taking them day by day, not pressuring myself to do all 30. More OTW tomorrow and a race this weekend, so we'll see what I can fit in!

Great job for knocking some of these out, Paul & Alan! So much going on. Any # is good.

Decided to try and clear out the last of my lung clag last night so after a half decent 10k paddle on Tuesday went straight in at the deep end and upped it back up to a HM. Started like most of the others (OK to about 9~10k) and then just ran out of gas completely.
Add to that my lower back hurt from about stroke #2 and continued to hurt throughout. This is new (and not very pleasant) thought I! Bloody sore all evening after and still sore now :( - glad I'm on holiday today so I can loaf about and not move around much.

At least that's a round number (10) achieved - I may call in the "discretion is the better part of valour" idiom and call it quits for this year's challenge

Great rowing! If you click on this link, it will bring you to the google doc that is used for recording your entries. You just add yourself to the list and put a 1 in the columns for the dates you did a HM.

Very nice. I don't think I'll do any more. I want to see if I can complete a clean sheet in the December Facebook challenge and I'm not sure it would be a good idea to also try to fit in another HM or two.

After my OCD experiments on #s 18-19-20, I went back to watching movies for #21 (Incredibles) and #22 (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). By this point on Saturday I had done 6 HMS in 6 days. Sunday was our biweekly erg time trial at the lake, 15:00 at a rate restricted 22 spm. This time I lost meters, going from a previous 3664m to 3656m. Overtraining showing up, perhaps? The ergs at the lake are a motley bunch so maybe the switch to a machine with an out of whack drag factor didn't help - couldn't remember the secret code to check drag on a PM2. Felt heavy.

After the TT we raced in eights. Then a few hours of volleyball at the beach. An HM Sunday night sounded highly unappealing, so I rowed #23 Monday online with a few others. Surprisingly it felt good and although my intended pace was a 2:15, I pushed the pace to an overall 2:14.1 by the end. Finish time around 94 min. With 7 more to go and the deadline in sight, my motivation now is to get them knocked out before my coach throws another time trial at me

Nice on the low HR row Alan and glad you're enjoying the other challenge, Paul.

I setup for the today HM an intervall session… 3k@UT2 for warming up – fine. The 4x1.5@max was hard, but really "evil" was then the forced active rest of 1.5k@UT2… being totally destroyed after the 1.5k, getting no air, just wanting to lay down, but then still have to row…bahh! The first 500m veeery evil, then after 1k better, the last 500m then felt like recovery.  As 5th intervall I did decent 1.5k@UT1. And for the end a 3k+@UT2 for cooldown.

Nice session Boris and a very respectable overall pace. How did you manage to get the distance to exactly 21097m?

My issue/trouble was the Rowpro does not support 0m for intervals with "active rest", but I wanted a continuous flow - otherwise it would not be a HM (at least for me). So… I played/calculated a little bit around and setup like this:

Image

As you can see, the key thing is the last interval… it's 3097m. Together with the other 6x3k it's 21097m.

Very clever. I didn't realise that you could specify a distance for rest intervals. I always though that the rest interval had to be time based and never checked to see if there was a distance option.

Thanks Paul. But don't worry… I had to fiddle around too… BTW the smallest distance is 100m.
