Saturday I mentioned that perhaps today I would go for another attempt. Unfortunately, yesterday my son passed me a ball and my handling was such that I felt a sharp pain in my groin. I still feel it a little bit today and since our holliday starts saturday with a week hiking in the Dolomites I don't want to take any risks. So definitely no sprints today.
Best of luck to you all.
Best of luck to you all.

Very impressed by everyone who has had a 2nd attempt! I keep finding reasons to delay.
Fred, Sorry to hear that, I was hoping you could go a little faster to raise the bar for Tako

Bad luck Fred, but a sensible choice.

Sorry to hear about the injury Fred, hope it won’t affect your vacation!
With reference to Max I would say the bar is already high enough.
However, this morning it was finally a bit colder after weeks with +25degC I used it for a surprising new PB (hence another green one in the meta nonathlon) on the 5k. Tomorrow it is going to be hot again, so not sure I can threaten Fred at all in the C2CTC this month and Felton is definitely 2fast4me!
Good to see you back in shape Felton, I knew that the time where I was faster than you in the C2CTC was limited

Had to go low rate for this because of heat and working nights at the moment.

Well done Tako, glad to hear you are feeling better.
Your 111 time is nearly 20s below average pace impressive.

Attempt #2 was faced with some trepidation as I did not enjoy the last 666m of attempt #1. Even before I started I didn't feel I had much "zip" but as I so rarely move from my office chair these days I think that's maybe just a lack of muscle warmth.
I just used my times from #1 as a target and tried to beat each one, if only by a fraction. This time around it was just as ugly but having the target and something to aim for helped.
I thought I would be close to Mr Bee but was pleasantly surprised to see I'd beaten him - by 0.8s with a 11:06.9 ( 1:47.2 average ). I still had to back off or die in the last 666 (for about 100m or so, maybe 150m)

Good to see Ian and Plummy competing as usual. I followed Fred's strategy of allowing a little more time for the 777m and it worked (thank you Fred) in that I didn't hit the wall during the 333m and it allowed for a slightly faster final 666m. But it was painful and I was running on fumes for the last 300m. Overall 10:18.4 @1:39.4 which is 2.6s faster than last time. It is also 0.6s faster than Claudius but that was more luck than judgement!

Finally a morning with temperature below 24degC, so I thought I must give Felton and Fred some competition, although I am better at sprints in the afternoon/evening. However, as the last days afternoons have seen temps around 30degC no way to attempt it then.
So maybe I will try again in the coming weeks if temperatures allow, but forecasts are not that cool. But not really sure I can go much faster either.
So now to the facts:
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
10:29.5 3,108m 1:41.2 337 1458 32
1:51.0 555m 1:40.0 350 1503 32
0:20.8 111m 1:33.6 426 1762 38
1:28.0 444m 1:39.1 360 1536 33
2:41.5 777m 1:43.9 312 1372 30
1:07.2 333m 1:40.9 341 1471 32

2:16.1 666m 1:42.1 328 1428 30

Çongratulations Tako. I'm finished for this month. Tomorrow my holiday begins, and I won't be near a C2 for a couple of weeks. And yesterday evening I rowed on starboard instead of port, brings a lot of new blisters that keep me from rowing tonight. Besides I have to pack. Sort of relieved I'm through

Sounds like a good reason to put the C2CTC pressure aside for a while
I have to admit that I constantly wonder whether to have another go or not. Can’t be healthy

Re: July ctc - 555m/111m/444m/777m/333m/222m/666m 70“r
Meanwhile......away from the big hitters in the team there is the usual series of tussles at the bottom of the order. Jan and I are in the same boat at the moment, but he had a 1.8 second advantage over me. "Not acceptable!" said the competitive voices in my head.
I decided to row this in the same way as last time: set a target pace and row every interval at that pace with the exception of 111. In particular, try to recover in the 333,222 intervals to survive the 666 without a heart-breaking HD at the end of the row. Jan's pace was 1:43., so I set myself the target pace of 1:43.0. Results below:
2:05.0 555m 1:52.6 245 29 167
0:21.3 111m 1:35.9 396 37 159
1:39.0 444m 1:51.4 253 30 176
2:55.0 777m 1:52.6 245 28 183
1:14.8 333m 1:52.3 247 29 177
0:49.4 222m 1:51.2 254 30 172
2:29.9 666m 1:52.5 246 30 189
11:34.3 3,108m 1:51.7 251 30
This gave me a bigger improvement than I had expected, reducing my time by 12 seconds, coming in at a pace far lower than the target of 1:53, and not hitting HR max until the last 200m. I'm miles off the top boats, but still quite pleased after a week of eating, drinking and not rowing in Stockholm.
Over to you Jan.

Some really impressive results so far, well done everyone! I had my first go last night and only a vague idea of how to pace this one. I finally decided to aim at a 1:50 pace for the 444m and longer and a 1:45 pace for the 333m and shorter. This is how it went:
2:02.1 555m 1:50.0 30
0:23.3 111m 1:44.9 31
1:37.2 444m 1:49.4 30
2:49.5 777m 1:49.0 30
1:09.7 333m 1:44.6 32
0:46.5 222m 1:44.7 31
2:21.1 666m 1:45.9 31
Total: 11:09.3 / 1:47.6
I was expecting the final 666m to be horrible as I head read in other reports here, but they weren't, I could actually row that one almost as quickly as the short reps. Which of course means I simply didn't go fast enough in the preivous reps Which also means I have to have another go

Hi Peter, looks like you have your proper target then
Too much heat, and too much golf = no rowing
But, today was the day.
I had a similar idea to Peter, 1:50 for the long ones, blast the 111, and see what happens for the 222 and 333.
Thankfully/surprisingly/amazingly (or one of many other adjectives) I settled in quickly, plus the rolling starts really helped get the average down.
555 - 1:49.0/30
111 - 1:33.6/39
444 - 1:45.8/30 (surprised a bit by that one< hope it doesn't bite me later)
777 - 1:48.6/28 (not horrible, and under target. but not pleasant either!)
333 - 1:46.0/30 (harder than I wanted)
222 - 1:40.4/32 (nice and short!)
666 - 1:48.9/30 (the devil everyone had said it is ).
11:04.9 // 1:46.9
I do not want to do that again.
