WEC 2018

Post by Grobi »

Hi all,

the World Erg Challenge 2018 is almost over but it seems we don't have a thread about it, so it's high time to start one :D We did quite well so far this year being in third position until yesterday when we dropped down to fourth (which is still better than we did last year when we finished fifth). We are quite close to team community fitness pointe of munster, approximately 300.000m. Maybe we can catch them again? We have time until coming Sunday to do so.

In any case we already did better than last year. We have covered more than 17.6 million meters with the challenge still running compared to just over 16 million meters last year, so well done team! =D>

Good spot and I'm now feeling guilty about not rowing today. Must do better tomorrow

There‘s no need for feeling guilty Michael. You can still row double meters tomorrow and everything is fine again :D

No, seriously, thanks for your contribution so far =D>

 On the basis every little helps I did 15,000 meters today. Is my arithmetic wrong or have Community Fitness Pointe of Munster been rowing backwards because it looks like their meters have reduced?

You are right, their meters today are less than they were yesterday. And I have no explanation for that.

Another thing I noticed is that they are a pretty healthy group of pensioners. With the exception of two aged 57 and 76 they are all 118 years old

Hope I'm still rowing at 118

Another 15,000 today to take my total to just over 200k. Not up there with the monster meter munchers but a record none the less. Looking like Free Spirits are a comfortable 3rd subject to any last minute catch up meters.

Absolutely! I think we are pretty safe in 3rd position (compared to 5th last season), so well done team!

3mm . I am not sure how anyone is supposed to compete with vast numbers of post competition catch up meters!! Unfortunately it is within the rules but in my opinion it doesn't feel very fair [-X

The whole thing doesn‘t seem fair at all! Why hog meters and upload them in the last minute in the first place? Then (with two exceptions) they were all born in the year 1900 :-? . And you can‘t access any of their logs which makes proof of betray (or fairplay of course) impossible. Is there any way Concept 2 could have a look into this? Having said that it‘s probably not worth bothering. Until they come up with the same MO next year of course...

Some people ( not Free Spirits ) might call it ' Tactics ' - I suspect it has happened before and will probably happen again.

Looks like Pavlov has moved from Team Canada to Munster for his annual WEC bell-ringing session :)

It does wrankle somewhat, but it's a strategy of sorts if you really felt like hiding/obscuring progress was appropriate (having lost sessions, I actively prefer regular distance uploads).
Personally part of the fun is seeing progressive advances. Like being overtaken by a team mate doing a full marathon on the last day....

Horses for courses.

Incidentally, the lead in Team Canada deserves a certain level of attention for his (possibly chosen?) final distance.
