Had my first go tonight and this session reminded me of the good old 4x1k / 5‘r session of the Pete Plan. I used to hate that one and now I know again why  I think this
mark88man wrote: Tue Oct 24, 2017 12:39 pm 4x750(3'r) - so few words, so much pain
sums it up quite nicely. Plan tonight was to do this session in Pete Plan style, so same pace for the first three reps (1:50) and then go for it in the last one. This is how it went:

1 / 1:50.0 / 29
2 / 1:50.0 / 29
3 / 1:50.0 / 28
4 / 1:45.4 / 31

Total: 10:53.3 / 1:48.8

The even splits for the first three reps make it look easier than it was. The pain in my legs increased from rep to rep and I was very thankful for the three minutes break! Last rep was kind of „fun“, mostly because I knew I would be done soon  Interesting piece of training though, this ctc could be a popular one!

Thank you for the quote! - thinking again maybe it should be

4x750m(3'r) - so few characters needed to type - so much character needed to deliver!

I am going to try mine next time I am in the gym - not a piece to do alone in the garage!!

I agree 4x1k(5'r) is similar but probably worse

Is that a gauntlet I can hear  - excuses in early though: recovering from side strain still, so it might be a last minute flourish for posting times.

Had my second go today with the aim of doing the first three reps at last time‘s average pace (1:48.8 ) and then go for a fast last one. This is how it went:

1:48.8 / 29 / 167
1:48.7 / 29 / 173
1:48.2 / 30 / 177
1:44.2 / 31 / 184

Total: 10:45.1 / 1:47.5 (was 10:53.3)

First two reps felt ok (don‘t want to use the term „comfortable“ here :D ) so I decided to speed things up a bit earlier. To my surprise I still had something left in the tank for the final rep. Despite being quicker this session felt better than the first one. Really pleased with my time, only when I entered it I saw that Claudius had just beaten me by 0.4 seconds  Well done Claudius, I don‘t think this was your final word, you‘re usually much quicker than me.

The last rep looks rather painful Ian, well done for seeing it through! You really wanted to go sub 11 minutes, didn‘t you? :D

Great second go Peter well done =D>

Nice to see Erik back in the lead too ^O^

Had my second go at 6:30 this morning, have gradually been improving after 4-5 months in the wilderness.

2:44.3-1:49.5-32
2:42.1-1:48.0-38
2:41.6-1:47.6-40

Very nice set there Alan, well done! I‘m sure the last rep hurt a lot as it was a bit slower than the one before. Good to see you improving! =D>

2nd attempt after deciding not to do a 30 minutes for the FB Lightweights challenge as I'm simply not in the same league as the other competitors there.

This was tough. I just used my last set as markers and said to myself "just go faster". The only failure on that was the last rep where I dropped from 1:48.8 to 1:49.4 but I think that shows I'd put a lot more into the first three. All were under 1:50.0 pace though:
2:44.4 - 1:49.6 - 32 spm
2:44.2 - 1:49.4 - 32 spm
2:43.3 - 1:48.8 - 32 spm (edited to correct initial error)
2:44.1 - 1:49.4 - 32 spm
10:55.9 total time - a nice round 6s faster

Very nice set there Dave and a great display of dedicaion in the final rep, =D> Not that I doubt it but was the third rep really at 1:43.3 pace? If so, maybe you take it a bit easier in the third rep the next time you go for this ctc. Because I‘m sure you‘ll have to as Ian will respond to this row  :fswink:

Great contributions so far!
Erik, as I told you, it ain't sure that you will loose the spot in the first boat. Although we still have to hear from Morten, Paul, Felton and others... ;-)
Ralf probably will have another go at it as well...

After working my way up some spots on the Meterboard this week and a day of rest yesterday, I hope to have a second go at the C2CTC tonight. After all Peter gave me a lovely target with that last spot on the water in boat II ImageImage

Thanks a lot, Tako :!: :D Yes, saw your comment, but I think I will have to go considerably faster if I want to compete for Boat 1...

Good luck with your next attempt - I´m sure you can nail this one :!:

(For historical interest an earlier ctc had only 1½´ rest periods: http://www.c2ctc.com/index.php?c_id=40, did 9:24.4, so so long ago  )

Also had another go just now. How much it hurts to gain 3.5 seconds, one place higher in both individual and boat rankings. Still holding on to boat 1 but I reckon that's going to change this weekend.
When finished the first thought is that it's the last try for this momnth, but who knows. Knowing I was able to go faster is satisfying, it soothes the pain a little.
The first tow were with a higher stroke rate, but my legs wouldn't hold that so I went for a slightly slower stroke rate (and pace).
Good luck and strength to the rest of the spirits...

Sorry Fred, but this is how my second attempt went:
1. 02:39.1 33spm @1:46.0 (looking how it feels an ahead of Peter Image)
2. 02:36.8 32spm @1:44.5 (trying to go faster without killing myself too early)
3. 02:34.7 34spm @1:43.1 (speeding up Imageseeing Fred might be in range)
4. 02:31.3 33spm @1:40.8 (all in trying Paul's advice of shorter strokes but feeling my back hence old style, damn this hard ImageImage🤢)
But made it ImageImageImageImage!!!
Ready for the weekend Image

Can't wait to see your result Steve! I had another go yesterday with the plan of doing the first three reps at the average pace from my previous try (1:48.8 ) and then see what's left in the final interval.

This is how it went:

1:47.5 / 31
1:47.5 / 31
1:47.4 / 31
1:44.4 / 33

Total: 10:40.3 / 1:46.7 (was 10:45.1)

Quite pleased with that! When I entered it I noticed that I missed moving up into FS2 by a tenth of a second  So I guess I'll have to have another go although I'm not really looking forward to it as this one already was pretty hard.

Either that or lose 5kg and row the same pace again - would that be easier??

To become lightweight? I‘m afraid losing 5kg wouldn‘t be enough  I‘m sure losing 9kg instead is harder than rowing the same or slightly faster pace again (especially as it had to be done before month‘s end) :D
