Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
Hi everyone,
like the three seasons before FIRT (French Indoor Rowers Team) are running the indoor rowers league again (http://indoorrowers.org/indoor-rowers-league). It's a replacement for the former C2 challenge series which disappeared three years ago and most probably won't come back.
The indoor rowers league's schedule is like last season's:
September - 4 minutes
October - 1 mile
November - 6344m
December - 5000m
January - 1 minute
February - 2000m
March - 10000m
April - 500m
Like in the past seasons there will also be a team competition. One team consists of a max of 10 members, the eight best results count. The teams are defined by the end of September, if you aren't registered with Free Spirits as your team affiliation by then you can't be member of the team!
This is to remind/encourage Free Spirits to register for this challenge (if they haven't already)

As a minor comment, I don't think FIRT runs the competition. It's just that Sebastien Chaumiole, the competition organizer, happens to be a member of FIRT.

So do I select the Free Spirits IRC as the 8 on 8 team or the IRC team or both?

Select Free Spirits IRC under TEAM_NAME to take part in the 8on8 competition, select Free Spirits IRC under IRC_TITLE to compare yourself with other team members.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
OK. So I did my first row of the month today. 6 minutes warm up followed by 1027 meters in 4 minutes @ 1:56.8 pace. Pretty slow, but at least I got it done. Now I just have to figure out my username and password so that I can enter my distance online.

The month of September is coming to an end. May I remind all team members that take part in the 8on8 team competition to enter a score. There are four scores missing currently.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
I am not sure if I did something wrong. My profile for calalli on the IRL site says I am in the Free Spirits 8x8 and I have entered my distance (1141M), but I do not appear on the list for the Free Spirits team. Is it perhaps limited to ten entrants per team?

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
Hi calalli, you didn't do anything wrong. The first ten members to sign up for the 8on8 team competition form the team so they beat you to it. The only way to get you started for the 8on8 competition is that one of the signed up members delete their affiliation under "TEAM_NAME" so that you can take their place. But this has to be done until the end of September 30th.

Well, not sure they beat you to it. The list looks very much the same as the one from last season. Not sure all are in and committed again!

I don't think Ralf was on the list last season?

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
I have not signed up for this year. As Tako said, my name is there because I was signed up last year.
If I recall correctly, it should be the first 10 that actually enter a result who are in this year's 8 on 8. But if it helps, I will sign out.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
I have contacted Sebastien how the 8on8 team building process works and will report back here as soon as I hear from him.
I think Rodger is right though that it's the first ten members to enter a score.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
So I got a reply from Sebastien. The list is carried over from the last season. In order to leave the list one has to unselect Free Spirits under TEAM_NAME and another team member needs to select Free Spirits under TEAM_NAME.
Rodger, I wouldn't want you to leave the list, I'm only concerned about members that are on the list and not realising it, probably having forgotten about the whole challenge. They would block seats while we have team members willing to take part but outside the list.

That doesn't seem right, at all... but I left the list, so someone else can jump in if they want to.Grobi wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 6:27 pm So I got a reply from Sebastien. Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
So, now Rodger left and Barbara jumped in but did not row until now. And what about Calalli and Fred who did row and Seb and Kirstin who didn't?
Even if this is a long time commitment, a zero in the 1st month isn't a promising start without some form of heads up "I'm in but got a thing to sort out 1st" - Says the guy who didn't row until yesterday

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
Hi as the guys say above we need an 8th person to register their 4mins to complete the team score, who will it be Barbara, Kirstin or Seb?

There is always the possibility (until Saturday night) to write Sebastien Chaumiole, that he should put in Calalli and Fred instead of the place holders, so we would be 9 already.

Hey zootMutant,
Why did you remove yourself from the Free Spirits IRC in IRC_TITLE?
Or even better, just row these 4' and join the 8on8, then we would have a full crew including the 2 Substitutes.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
My entered time recently was an attempt about 10 mins after a full on 4 min Ski so did a proper go today. University has started again so haven't been training so much the past 2/3 weeks and was looking to just hit 1200m. Pleasantly surprised to be able to match Ralf with 1209m

Looking at the splits that was a proper row Caratacus, well done.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
I am not looking to boot anyone off the list, and there are certainly many who are faster than I am, but I will participate if there is a slot. I don't see there being enough interest for a second team. Either way I plan to do the sessions each month.
