Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
Well, had a very satisfying attempt on this today. My second best 10K ever. My goal was 38:40, a 1:56 pace and ended out with 38:19.4, only 9 seconds slower than my PB. The question is, can I get to that PB?? The last 500m in 1:47.4 shows I was not completely wiped out. Very reluctant to try though...
Now let's hope the boat fills up before the end of the month.

0.4s faster than my all time PB (albeit 10 years ago!) - great effort Fred

Great result Fred, well done! It must be extremely satisfying to be so close to a long standing PB!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
Managed to submit another time today.
Was expecting an SB as it was my first 10k(of 79) this season where I've rowed strapped in on a DF below 300.
Found it a bit of a struggle as I have done a lot of metres(for me) this month, so nowhere near Fred's effort, and many miles shy of Tako's entry!!
The row was on DF 225 with an SPM of 29.8
Tale of the tape:
Total : 38:44.9
2k @ 1:58.6
2k@ 1:55.9
2k@ 1:55.7
2k@ 1:55.7
2k@ 1:55.1

Very well done Paul! I can see your struggle in the final split, only 0.6 seconds faster than the ones before, so well done for hanging in there!

Thanks Peter - you are right, I was just hanging in at the end - was feeling quite tired having done a lot of long, slow stuff lately and had to up the stroke rate to higher than what I am used to.
I may try and squeeze in one more attempt if I can find the energy

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
Tried and failed to improve my time last night. I got to 6268 metres at 1:59.1 so I was about 10s ahead of my previous best only if I could hold the pace but I'd been struggling a while and kept getting sharp pains in my right foot like I'd picked up a splinter. Eventually it wore me down and I called it quits (gave myself 5 minutes then did a 5k with neg splits at 20:29.8 - so I had some energy left).
The pain in my foot turned out to be the removal of skin off the top of my second toe - clue being my white sock having turned bright red! Now I remember why I moved to 4 holes showing. Moving back to 3 after last week's technique/PT session half solved one problem but recreated an old one.
There's a slight chance I might have another go before I go away on Monday

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
That sounds painful plummy! Well done for getting back on the erg and doing a steady 5k afterwards.
It's not often I get to kill four birds with one stone, but I managed that this morning.
1 minute plus improvement in my IRL score
1 minute plus improvement in my 10k SB
48 points improvement in my nonathlon score
Now only one row away from completing the Mud Season Madness 10k challenge

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
The March challenge has come to an end and we could improve our team score again to 93.05 after 92.33 in February (and 87.33 in January). We finished 8th in March thus ensuring our 9th position in the overall table (out of 49 teams).
Well done team, letβs see how we can do in the final challenge which is a simple 500m

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2017 / 2018
It's been very quiet in this thread this month. Looks like the 500m isn't very popular. Only four scores entered so far.
I know I don't like the distance but at least I rowed a season's best today. It was 1:34.2 and today I finished in 1:33.3. Now I don't have to use a CTC score, that's a relief.
I'm always in doubt: should I start as fast as I can and see where that leads me or start more easy. Today I chose the last strategy and realized a negative split.
Perhaps later this week I'll have another go, at least I have a score now.
It also made me cross the 8000 points threshold in the Nonathlon btw.

I might have a go at this tomorrow to fill in one more blank for the team. I doubt it'll be anything special but it needs to be done...

Well done Fred. And it looks as if you had something left in the tank. Most 500m rows are fly and die. I don't remember ever seeing one before with a negative split throughout.
