A marginally less ragged improvement:
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 0:37.4 200m 1:33.5 428 1772 43 0:18.8 100m 1:34.0 421 1748 41 0:18.6 200m 1:33.0 435 1795 45
Still can't get to grips with rating even in the 50s though, so very well done to all ^O^

Edit:

Just sneaked a 37....

I have to skip the CTC even if it is that short. I admit I did not like this months CTC but not doing it feels worse. :(

I had an accident last Thursday with the bike, and suffered a contusion, the neck is still sore and I should not row until the end of the month.

Sorry
Ralf

Sorry to hear that Ralf - we could use your super pace. Take the advise and rest up until you are fully recovered (we have an "Injuries" thread as well so you could maybe post there as well).

August ctc - 200m, standing start, free stroke rate

Post by Tako »

Gute Besserung Ralf!!

After the PP session and PB on 5k I felt great and gave the 200m another go and moved up to first spot in Boat V with a 35.9 @ 1:29.7 but still feeling great I did one more in 0:35.5 @ 1:28.7 and made it into Boat IV. Still high and trying a change in sprint technique I improved my PB on 100m from 0:18.6 @ 1:33 (last season) to 0:17.9 @ 1:29.5
So now I am ready for the weekend; maybe doing a HM with others on RowPro tomorrow :-)

Having been told by my physio that it was OK to get back on the erg and row gently for 10 minutes, that's what I did today - 2351m @ 2:07.6 pace. Of course, being me, I couldn't resist having a go at the CTC afterwards. #-o

DF was only 131 and I had no-one to anchor the machine, so it jumped all over the place. In the circumstances, I was very pleased to manage 36.3 seconds, which puts me in boat 5 and gives Alan an incentive to have another go.

If my back doesn't react badly to today's efforts, I'll have another go in a couple of days at a higher DF with someone holding the machine down for me.

I persuaded the lovely Jennifer to do the challenge today. She completed it in 47.9 seconds.

That's seven full boats then now. Let's see whether next month's 6k will get as much FS boats afloat again.

Yes, huge turn up. Not sure though whether Boat I has ever been that far behind the top before ;-)

If the idea was to get greater overall participation, proofs definitely in the pudding (759 this month, with still some new times being posted in the last 24hrs, vs 494 last which seemed to be the typical level).

Decided to try one last time and went from 32.4 to 32.0. Perhaps a final, final go tomorrow to get under 32??

Nice one =D>
Also had another go after Wolfie forced me into it - improved from 35.3 to 33.5 but the absence of any sprinting for the last 6 years or so found me out and I don't think I will be able to better that.

I had my second attempt at this today. I moved the DF up to 156 and my son Jonathan held the erg so that it wouldn't bounce around. I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to improve my time by 1.9 seconds and I've moved into boat IV alongside Felton, Steve, Sheena and Jan.

Jonathan also did the challenge, but didn't push at as it was his first time on the erg in several months. He's currently providing company for Gillian in Boat VIII.

I'm sure that was just an attempt to lull me into a false sense of security Alan.

I decided to make it a bit more challenging for you.
