2017 Weight Loss Thread

Post by zootMutant »

Beginning of a new year... new plans and new goals.

I have not been exercising very much, due to my elbow. So, I modified my eating strategy and it seems to have paid off.

Next week, I'll start back with my strength training. If that goes well, I'll start back with cardio in a few weeks. If not, then it's back to the therapist.

Remarkable progress Zoot, very well done =D>

I have been a bad boy up to 94kg-so target for the year is 82.7kg or 182 lbs in proper avoirdupois

I dared to check the scales for the first time since late 2016, with the result that I'm setting myself a target of 2kg to loose in 6 months.

Having pretended to not really care about lowering times on my PP cycles, I'm going to attempt to try to pace myself into weight loss as I approach the third round.

Alan -- stick with it. With all the rowing you're doing, your weight is sure to come down! :P
Ian -- this sounds like a good plan. Best of luck! 8)

Alan -- Not moving backward is a huge first step! A minor diet tweak, combined with your marathon training, and you'll see those pounds start to drop off!

I rowed an easy warm-up on Monday and Tuesday; my elbow feels pretty good. Then, yesterday, I tripped walking up the stairs at work and smashed my ankle, knee, and hip. I feel like I'm 5 years old. Can't even walk up the stairs. Sheesh. Nothing broken, and only my pride is torn. Should be working out again by this weekend.

On a more positive note... My weight is now at 88 kg and I've seen the scale dip below 193 a couple of times -- a sight I haven't seen in 15 years! \:D/

Cheers,

I was reluctant to post here as my weight had ballooned to 107.0 kg after my trip to Alvor. #-o But I was under my starting weight this morning for the first time this year, so time to start posting again. My ambition is to avoid any red figures until at the very least I get back down to double figures. We'll see.

Thanks Ian & Alan!

Paul - Glad to see you have 'recovered' from your trip to Alvor! Now, time to start reeling in that extra weight. You've made a good start. Keep at it!

Alan - cutting back seems to have worked. Now, with your long string of 15k rows and your future marathon training plan, you should see that weight start to drop.

Well done, both of you! =D>

Cheers, :P

Beginning of a new month... almost. Close enough, anyway. My progress slowed down in October. In November I changed my whole approach and it's paid off wonderfully. :P

My long-term goal is to settle down somewhere between 168-174 lbs (76-79 kg). :-k

Last month totals seem more impressive than they were: I had the flu twice -- not recommended as a long-term weight-control strategy.

Zoot, losing more than 24kg in less than one year is mostly impressive! Does your wife still recognize you?

She says I'm not the man I used to be.

Beginning of a new month... almost. Close enough, anyway.

A slight gain this month in terms of weight, but 1/2" off my waist and 1/4" off my hips, so I consider that a total success! \:D/

When I lose weight too fast, it always seems like I lose a lot of lean and not so much fat. So, when I see my measurements falling without a corresponding drop in total weight I am very encouraged!

My main focus this month has been on strength training, and it looks like that is paying off!

I haven't been behaving myself particularly food and drink wise, nor have I been doing much erging, although I have managed to put in a few meters over the past few days. Unsurprisingly, I haven't been losing any weight, but I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see that I'm back under 104 kg (my weight has generally been fluctuating between 104 and 105 kg), so I decided it was time to start posting again. Maybe it will motivate me to be better behaved.

I took the draconian step of stopping drinking any alcohol on Saturday February 18th and so far it seems to be working

Alan, did you make that decision on Feb 18th or was the decision to not drink alcohol (only) on that particular day? :D If it's the latter one I'm very impressed by the result!

I think he meant he is never going to drink alcohol again, when Feb 18th falls on a Saturday! Who would have guessed it would have such an impact?
