Thanks Erik. But it's next month I'm going to Portugal - I'll be there from the 10th to the 20th.

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Lumbar injection seems to have gone OK and my back is a bit less troublesome, but too early to say if it's been a success. Can't row for two weeks and taking it relatively easy (on doctor's orders) since the injection. But I've been fairly sensible with diet (and alcohol consumption) and another small improvement in weight this week. My immediate target is to get below 100 kgs before I head to Alvor on October 10th.

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
My back was a lot better for a few days after the injection. But it's acting up again yesterday and today, so feeling a bit frustrated. I managed to stay relatively on track diet wise despite my trip to London and I'm now only 1 kg above my target of getting below 100 kgs before I head to Alvor this day next week.

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Thanks for the support and encouragement folks. I decided just over a month ago that I was going nowhere and needed some help to lose weight. So I joined the local branch of Slimming World. I'm one of only three men in a group of about fifty women.
So far, it seems to be working, although I'm only part following their program. But it's also made me much more conscious of what I'm eating (and drinking) and hopefully is leading to the establishment of some good habits. I'm going to stick with it until my daughter's wedding in mid December (that's what prompted me to get around to making a serious attempt to lose weight over the next few months) and I'll see where I go after that.
The two weeks since my injection are nearly up and I hope to do some gentle erging and see how my back holds up. If I can get back into regular erging and continue to keep an eye on consumption, I should hopefully be back in the 'green' zone in time for the wedding.

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
I've managed to stay on track this week and have finally dipped below 100 kg. The trick now is to still be under 100kg when I get back from Alvor in two weeks time.

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Well done all. Respect.
My first post in a while, as things have been very much in the wrong direction and not at all zoot or Thomas like. I got down to 99kg just about a year ago, and then I had to stop rowing with a sore wrist, and had to work away couple of nights a week which didn't help. So I am now 110KG and looking to get back to 99KG by the end of the year. So very similar to the journey Paul has just succeeded in.
I was recommended to my local council (but outsourced) leisure centre, where I joined their CSR (corporate Social responsibility) programme, where they offer significant discount on membership for those struggling with health and weight - as a 2 year diabetic and a veteran snacker that was enough for me (and for them) so paying £20 a month instead of £55 -which I wouldn't have paid. And I am enjoying it, even introducing some weights (on the machine not free weights) and treadmill running. So although I have yet to see the weight start coming off in droves, I have stopped the inexorable rise, and am now feeling fitter - managing 15K this morning at HR135 (5x3K 30'rest 2:27/500m), although it was a shock to the system. It was also a shock to my instructor when I diagnosed seriously poor maintenance of all the C2s in the gym !! (Pleasingly they fixed this within days - although I do wonder that those who put the lever at 11 might have got a shock when for no reason I am sure they could know of the DF increased from 65 to 170 )
I have decided to try and slowly train for a FM which I am aiming to do on London Marathon day - but am only telling friends on the internet and no in real life until I am more confident I can manage it. But will post here with news and updates to keep myself honest.
Anyway - glad to be back, I'll post my meters to the team soon, but only done around 50K in 6 weeks including 25K in the few days)

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Congrats PaulV! Great effort!! I hope you can and will keep it below the 100!
Good luck Mark! Sounds like you took some important steps! To me your goal sounds a bit too ambitious and maybe even unhealthy to loose 10kg in 2 months. Also as you will gain muscle from training.
Slow and steady progress will last longer, so why hurry. Get the healthy lifestyle and the numbers will improve.
And as others have said on this thread before in different ways: training takes grams while food adjustments can take kilos off your body. Good luck!

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Well done, Paul, for getting below 100kg (again ) Seriously, it seems like you are determined to keep weight under control
For the last couple of years I´ve been around 110-112kg, and historically I´ve felt a bit troubled when hitting 110kg. For many years I was around 106kg and functioning quite well. In August my training went better with cycling for instance and I got just below 110kg. A little setback in training in September, but then I decided I would try and control my weight, with help from some experts. So a shot from the hip I decided a goal of 102kg. Having a new Echo on the 31st and am excited what it will show and what the Doc will say, especially regarding my future training level (and probably our own Doc RowSlo will have an opinion about that )...
26/09-17: 107.9kg
04/10-17: 106.1kg
10/10-17: 105.6kg

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
As I suspected might be the case, my trip to Alvor sees me back on the wrong side of 100 kg. However, it could have been worse and I hope to get back below 100 kg by my next weigh in.

And me, a bit stuck, lost a little, but now (28/10/2017) 106.7.
Still, 2nd in the office weight loss league (quarterly) - with the leader notorious for loading up on water before the weigh in and then not doing much, so I have hopes if I can just maintain a downward trajectory

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Thought it time I got myself back into being a FS. Just catching up on the forum as its been a long time. Not quite sure why I chose to read the WL thread first.....anyway well done Mark & Paul.
During the time I was in plaster late last year and then rehab I managed to gain over 12kgs. My head was in a difficult place, not feeling good about myself and I struggled with rehab.
July 4th I got My FitnessPal app and decided I had to do something as I was 12 weeks from my holiday. My ankle was on the mend but not 100%. I couldn't row or run, but I could do some walking and some cycling.
I was chuffed that the day of my holiday to Cyprus I'd lost all of the weight I'd gained, 12.7kgs. I was away for four weeks and managed to lose a further 1kg!!!!
We've been home around three weeks and its a struggle but I want to now attempt to row..... again....hopefully in the next few months

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Well done Michelle. Losing that amount of weight while recovering from an injury is quite an achievement.
I managed to dip under 100 kg again this week and I'm almost back to my pre holiday weight. Only 6 weeks to go to my daughter Elaine's wedding and I want to be back in the green zone (sub 95 kg) by then.
