FS Sweat protection option
Dear FS:
Current events (October CTC) bring up an old topic: how to deal with lots of sweat.
I swear by my erg's heart that the Halo headband "tie version" can effectively take care of all sweat coming it's way. It also fits on any size head. Same for the Bandana - good stuff! Both fit great underneath a helmet.
Prices given here are for an order of more than 50 (Fifty pieces), and can be any combination of
Halo I (tie version, best of all: US $ 7.50), in Royal Blue, Black, White, Red, pink, Light Blue and Navy Blue
Halo II (US $7.50) (colors as above)
Bandana (Royal Blue, Black, White, Red )(US$ 12)
Skull cap (Black or white only) (US$ 12)
Anti-freeze(black only) (US $ 9.50) W
Solar (white only) (US$ 13)
Prices given are for the for the 3-color-stitched versions; it's 50 cents less per color not used. Check their website prices, it is far more expensive to order individually: http://store.haloheadband.com/default.asp
(Halo Sport Hat and Halo Sport Visor add a one time US $ 100 fee for three colors to the order, so I'd suggest not to order from that unless someone wants to pick up the tab.)
Of course, a design that most of us like should be ordered, on any color Halo gear anyone desires. Just the design needs to stay the same. Either the Royal Blue or Navy Blue will fit the rest of the FS attire better, although Pink would be not bad either....((Hey, nothing better than a hairy dude with a pink FS sweat band!). Other colors offered are white, red, black.
I was thinking of orange / white for the stripes (like the arms of the shirts etc. some of us have) ; may be black for an erg, with the white FS ghost riding on it.; may be "Free Spirits" or just "FS" in orange / white letters, may be just the FS ghost? Maximum image area: 1"h x 5"w - Any suggestions and/or gifted artists out there?
I'd be happy to ship, on my expense, to all continents to someone there for further distribution, and of course by mail within the US.
To make this worth while for others as well - for the first 40 Halo (tie version) takers, the buyer who gives at least three times the cost of the gear to Médecins Sans Frontières http://www.msf.org/ - will get their gear for free from me.
If there are more than 40 items wanted, I'd order.
Boris

Re: FS Sweat protection option
Sounds good to me coz I'm very sweaty
The colours that you suggest for the erg, spirit etc sound good to me, and I'd be ordering a few of them in navy blue (and probably pink too).
Count me in
I'd be happy to forward distribution within the UK too (probably the EU too), if that would help.

I'd be up for a couple of tie type. Is Paypal and option?

I expect so Bill. I've certainly a PayPal account and would be happy to use that if I end up involved in the UK distribution.billwright wrote:I'd be up for a couple of tie type. Is Paypal and option?

Don't know how it would work yet but I'd be happy to settle up for the UK recipients with Boris (or the company direct) and then accept payment by PayPal from whoever has ordered.

Sounds like the start of a plan. I'll monitor the thread for the hows and when.

I had tried a to find a solution to this issue (sweat in the eyes really does sting) and kinda gave up. Count me in for a couple of the tie types!

Re: FS Sweat protection option
Looks like close to 20 garments "sold" already in the first 24 hours, so hopefully we won't have too much dificulty in getting pledges for the magical 50 needed to make the venture a viable proposition. (Not sure if I just made that number up. I think that I read it in a post, or on a website somewhere though )

Well, I think I'll go ahead then - seems like there will be eventually enough takers. 50 is the magical number where initially mentioned prices apply. Will ask Thomas W-P about the color specifics he used, and then start working on a design.

Re: FS Sweat protection option
I'll take 2 (not sure about the pink, happy in competitions, but not quite sure of the reception at the gym!). Happy to pay the excess over cost so that the minimum reasonable order could be made up and I think that postage should be paid by recipients rather than borne by the "local supplier", then the surplus could be sold on to FS members in the future for club funds.

I've no particular objection to pink per se but wouldn't it clash badly with the orange in Free Spirits colours?

Yep, I'd have 2 too.
Can we have one tie and one bandana or does it have to be two tie?

Had no idea my comment about sweat in my eyes on Saturday would strike such a chord! Seems everyone has the same problem. I dont think any amount of sweat is going to make me wear a pink one though! No problem with orange white and blue stripes.

Surely a nice pink one would go with your Borat style Mankini StanStan wrote:Had no idea my comment about sweat in my eyes on Saturday would strike such a chord! Seems everyone has the same problem. Re: FS Sweat protection option
The Halo website suggests that the custom printing can be on a mixture of items as long as they total 50 or more in number.Wolfmiester wrote:Yep, I'd have 2 too.

There will, of course, be practical considerations. We don't want to order a load of product that we can't shift (pink skullcaps anyone?)
I would suggest that we stick to a minimum number of garment types. Possibly only one, but certainly not more than two or three.
The dark blue colour would seem to suit the FS kit and logo best. I've no real preference for tie type or bandana (although the former may fit more people better I suppose). I think that Boris has said that he thinks that the tie type are better but I don't know anyone else who's tried one. They certainly seem to get very good write ups on a number of sites however.
Not wishing to be sexist but the ladies may like a pink option. Quite fancy one myself

Re: FS Sweat protection option
I think the bandana is usefull when it's cold or under a helmet; otherwise the tie style; both fits any size head. Once I'm done with a proposition I'll post here. Any graphic designers out there - have a go!
How about blue tie / bandana and a combination of writing: "Free Spirits Rowing" (in Orange/White/Orange); and the Free Spirit on the erg out front?

Re: FS Sweat protection option
Got sweat in my eyes last night during the later reps of a 5x1500, and its an even bigger problem on longer continuous pieces. Count me in for two of the tie type. Your proposed color scheme sounds great and I think is the best combo for going with the FS kit from Godfrey.

Sounds ideal. Can we use the logo above with the sweat rather than the other used on some kit?BorisZ wrote:I think the bandana is usefull when it's cold or under a helmet; otherwise the tie style; both fits any size head.
