Millionaires club-Season

Post by webberg »

I think that we shoudl recognise the milestone of our team mates passing the 1m mark in any season.

The latest is I think Agustin Jauregui so many well done's to him.

Previously to this mark are Nigel Ferris, Yuri Contreras, Zach Ellison, Robert Baldwin, Tricia Blank, Scott Hill, Michael Gunther, Paul Sims, Laura del Castillo and Pete Jain.

Well done to all of them.

I was actually thinking we should have a hall of fame listing people's million metre milestones somwhere on the site. I also thought it would be nice if we had downloadable award certificates for people to print off, as C2 do for their challenges. Afterall, we're here to help motivate and encourage each other.

What does everyone else think?

What about the people who do not row for distance but for other goals? I row to lose weight, the metres are an incidental but pleasing step along the way.

I think this is a can of worms. Nigel does 1 million metres in his sleep. Does he deserve recognition for each million when some people might take years to get there? Or people who don't get there each season but do well at BIRC?

We all have our goals. Just some are not metre based.

I wouldn't limit recognition to just clocking up meters, as it is far from the be all and end all. That said, what Nigel does is exceptional and I for one think it deserves recognition (or institutionalisation - anyone for Meters Anonymous...)

Basically anything that encourages people is good in my book. The c2 distance award scheme seems a bit confused between the US and UK versions and who knows what happens to those in other countries.

We, as Free Spirits, should recognise the meters done towards our team total, no matter how many or few. Probably should also have a kids award scheme like C2 too.

And it's not like a downloadable certificate is gonna cost much!

I think the printable certificates are a good idea

I'm not a meters monster myself, but Nigil reaching 100 million meters does not really take away from me reaching 2 or 3 million meters .
(I have nearly 2 million recorded, and about 1 million before I started recording my distances)

My main goal is lowering my 2K time, but having the option of printing a 2 million meter certificate is a positive thing, if its easy to implement on the website.

All good

Post by PSims »

We had certificates for 500k in our previous team.
But then we also had a wombat!
Don't think there's a correlation between the 2, so OK with me!

Other teams have a monthly newsletter - I have "obtained" one if anyone's interested?

There are so many ways to achieve, difficulty is in how to recognise them all. I want an award for irritating the Slug on a regular basis :P

Congratulations to Colin Brinkman and Stan (Andrew Stanway) for being the latest entries to the millionaires club.

And welcome to new member Gary Erdos, who jumps straight in with 2.2 million already rowed.

Congrats to the people I have been playing "leap frog" with on the meter board as we rowed our way to a million meters: Nick, Colin, Bartman, Stan and the soon-to-be- millionaires Bob, Neil and Alf.

I did a half-marathon this morning to break the million meter mark. My next million will be done on my very own Model D (it arrived yesterday :D !), and hopefully by Christmas time.

congratulations Rita and all you others who have reached or about to reach 1 million metres for the season. It seems to be very tight from position 17 down to 30 so there is a lot of leap frogging going on and its all great fun and very motivational.
Very jealous of your new model D Rita - let us know how you get on with it.

Also, welcome to Richard White (welcome back), Ann and Peter Seidman, who are all instant millionaires too!

Nice bit of altitude training for rowing then.
Its taken me a month to catch up with Lauras metres - I wonder if I can hold on to my slender lead.

Did you know that "old speckled hen" is named after an MG car? (Clue: that's why the label is octagonal)

Well done to DerryLad who has just gone over the 2 million mark - well done Rob!!!
