Not a Sprinter....
It was a painful session today - I decided to try my hand at the June CTC challenge; 666 metres. I completed it, then did some climbing and another 6,000 metres to round out the workout.
I was certainly satisfied with the time - although I can certainly see that sprinting is not my strength....
Time: 2:15.3 (1:41.6 ave split).

Back in Force
After 13 incredible days of climbing at Smith Rock in Oregon, we are back and beginning our training in force. I have spent the last couple of days doing distance rowing, starting with yesterday - 10,000 metre ranking attempt. I am happy with the results - 41:23.3 (2:04 ave split and a 25 ave spm). Today I rowed a UT2 distance of 15,019 metres. This afternoon will include climbing, pullups, deadhangs and core work.

24-7, NARC and End of Month Goals
It has been a successful month of rowing for our family. Every member (including our 4 year old daughter) has participated to the best of their ability. In one month's time, I have rowed 4 new PB's, as well as break the 300,000 metre barrier for a month's time. Maude, after rowing for only 2 months, has rowed over 200,000 metres. Erik has done extremely well, and Brigit played many days worth of C2 Fish Games on the PM3 monitor - bringing her total to over 6,000 metres.
I had originally planned to accomplish a FM for the end of this month, but after careful calculating, I realize this is simply asking too much of my body at this time...
Our family is planning a 12 day trip to Oregon this June for a rock climbing experience at Smith Rock. I am planning to finish at least one multi-pitch lead climb, while Maude and the kids will be staying a little closer to the ground - spending time bouldering and top roping (as well as learning some ropes basics). With this in mind, we will be spending the next month consentrating on more weight and core training, as well as spending more time bouldering in our home climbing gym.
On top of this, I begin my White Water Guide School at the end of April, which will demand all my energy for an intense week of training to obtain my British Columbia Guide's Licence! With this in hand, I will be guiding part time at the Chilliwack Rafting Company - primarily on weekends... who knows where this will ultimately go - hopefully full time guiding is in my future... maybe river runs through Nepal? (hey - one's gotta dream, right?)
With all of this in mind, I will be taking a well earned break from the C2 for the next couple days, and then will back off a bit from the endurance rows and concentrate on more interval training and sprint work.
Maude and the kids will be backing off the metres as well - Maude plans to do more Ut2 rows in order to further reduce her weight and help her get up the climbs that much easier. Erik will be rowing about twice a week, 35 minutes each session so that he can track his progress for a set time, and Brigit... well... Brigit will continue playing "Fishy Games" :)

Taking our turn at the 24-7 Relay
Well, in just 45 minutes, I will be going on to do my shared row with Maude. I am hoping for a new PB for 30 minutes, but we will see as I have completed a rather grueling strength workout at the gym form chest, back and arms. Maude will begin at 3:30 and row until 4:00 - then it is halibut for dinner!
